– Lando Norris (McLaren) was already the fifth different winner in a row at the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix. After Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes) had dominated the early phase of the season and won five times in a row, there has since been quite a variety on the winners’ podium.

The current streak started with Lewis Hamilton, who won his first race for Ferrari in Barcelona. This was followed by wins from George Russell (Mercedes) in Austria and Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) in Silverstone, before Antonelli was able to strike again in Belgium.
Due to the revived form of McLaren, it is not impossible that the streak could continue in Zandvoort. At least Oscar Piastri was briefly in the lead at the Hungaroring and would probably have finished second if he had not suffered a gearbox failure.
So second place went to Max Verstappen (Red Bull), who is always a contender and could also extend the streak. You can expect anything from him. Or could there even be a complete outsider victory again?

Be that as it may: Five different race winners in a row are not that rare in Formula 1. The last time was not that long ago: At the end of 2024, there were even six different winners in a row – including Carlos Sainz’s victory in Mexico or George Russell’s triumph in Brazil in a season initially dominated by Red Bull before McLaren took over the reins.
When we have seen at least five winners in a row in this millennium – anything else would really be excessive – you can see in the photo series. Among them are clear candidates like 2012, when the season started with seven different winners, but also surprises involving 2002 or 2004.
