Four substitute and wildcard riders in Silverstone
At the 2026 British Grand Prix, there are several changes in the MotoGP field: Yamaha test rider Augusto Fernandez receives his fourth wildcard of the season.
Iker Lecuona replaces the injured Fermin Aldeguer at Gresini, Pol Espargaro steps in for Maverick Vinales at Tech3-KTM. Additionally, Cal Crutchlow remains as a substitute for the injured Johann Zarco in the field. This is already his sixth appearance since Mugello.

MotoGP extends with Silverstone until 2028
Even before the MotoGP visits the Silverstone Circuit for the 26th time this weekend, the contract extension with the traditional race track was announced on Thursday. This secures the race’s place on the calendar until at least 2028.
The next British Grand Prix will again take place in August 2027. Last year, the event attracted nearly 100,000 spectators.

Off to the second half of the season!
The MotoGP is back from the summer break and starts the second half of the season this weekend at the British Grand Prix. The title fight could hardly be closer, as only 24 points separate the top 5. Who can gain an advantage in Silverstone?
The foundation for a strong race weekend is laid on today’s practice Friday. In the afternoon, it will already be about direct entry to Q2. As always, we accompany every session live in our ticker.
