Rain

Earlier we were still talking about the weather, meanwhile the rain is already in Zandvoort. A wet FT1 would be a problem especially today – because on a sprint weekend there is only one practice session.

So if it remains wet later, the drivers would have to go into the rest of the weekend without dry practice. Of course, we will continue to keep an eye on the situation.

Farewell

Although there is still a Formula 1 boom in the Netherlands thanks to Max Verstappen, the race in Zandvoort will take place for the last time this year for the time being. The organizers simply cannot afford the Grand Prix anymore, as Zandvoort is one of the few races on the Formula 1 calendar without government support.

Weather

Zandvoort is always good for rain, so we quickly take our obligatory look at the weather for the weekend. And indeed, it could rain at the track today and also tomorrow.

However, this is not certain, and if it does rain, it might only be a few small drops. Of course, we will keep an eye on the situation as usual.

More on this in our big weather forecast.

New Contract

And another news from Red Bull, which in this case does not bring any change. The Bulls confirmed yesterday that Max Verstappen has extended his contract, which was already running until 2028, early once again.

The four-time world champion will now race for Red Bull until at least 2030. This gives him the longest current contract of all Formula 1 drivers. More on this in this photo gallery:

New Team Principal

Red Bull temporarily returns with a new driver from the summer break, and Cadillac has a new team principal – permanently. Marcin Budkowski will be at the pit wall from this weekend, Graeme Lowdon is history.

You can read more background information about the change here.

Liam Lawson back in Red Bull

The most important news for the Zandvoort weekend comes from Red Bull. Because Isack Hadjar is injured, Liam Lawson returns to the Bulls. Meanwhile, Yuki Tsunoda takes his place at the Racing Bulls.

How long Hadjar will be out is currently unknown. At least this weekend he can only watch.

Welcome back!

Hello and welcome to a new edition of our Formula 1 live ticker. The summer break is over and the premier class returns this weekend with the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort.

Fittingly for the comeback after the longer break, there is also a sprint. That means: Today there is only one practice session, then in the late afternoon the qualifying for tomorrow’s sprint takes place directly.

FT1 starts at 12:30 PM, the sprint qualifying at 4:30 PM. Here at this spot we will provide you with information, voices, and pictures directly from the paddock throughout the day as usual.

Ruben Zimmermann will accompany you here throughout the day and for questions, suggestions, or complaints you can use our contact form. You can also find us on Facebook, X, Instagram, and YouTube.
