Lamborghini Diablo as Restomod: Eccentrica unveils the V12 Roadster

(Motorsport-Total.com/Motor1) – At this year’s Monterey Car Week, Eccentrica takes its crazy Lamborghini Diablo restomod to the next level. The Italian company has unveiled the new V12 Roadster, an open development of the original Eccentrica V12 Coupe. It combines the look of the iconic 1990s supercar with modern technology and a naturally aspirated V12.

The Roadster will make its public debut on August 14 at The Quail during Monterey Car Week. Like the original Eccentrica V12, this model is limited to only 19 units, with each vehicle individually configured according to its owner’s wishes. And the technical data is impressive:

Engine: 5.7-liter V12
Power: 404 kW (550 hp) / 600 Nm
Transmission: Six-speed manual
0-100 km/h: 3.8 seconds
Top speed: 335 km/h
Curb weight: 1,540 kilograms

More power, less roof

The heart of the Roadster is a revised 5.7-liter naturally aspirated twelve-cylinder engine producing 404 kW (550 hp) at 7,000 rpm and 600 Nm of torque. Power is transmitted via a manual six-speed gearbox with an open shift gate, while the car can adapt to different conditions through three driving modes. Eccentrica states a top speed of 335 km/h.

For the open body, it was not enough to simply remove the roof of a Diablo. Eccentrica explains that it conducted a dedicated aerodynamic study to control airflow around the open cockpit. Additionally, the chassis received structural reinforcements made of carbon.

The body combines steel and carbon while preserving the unmistakable proportions of the original Lamborghini devil. Added are a widened track, revised suspension geometry, semi-active dampers, hydraulic steering, and modern brakes from Brembo.

Consistently focused on customization

Inside, Connolly leather, Alcantara, anodized materials, and visible carbon create a more modern impression without giving up the classic character that makes the original so special.

According to Eccentrica, more than 3,500 custom components are developed for each vehicle as part of the comprehensive re-engineering. The Roadster was created together with the Milanese design studio Borromeo De Silva, while development was led by Maurizio Reggiani. He is the former technical director of Lamborghini, who worked on the Murcielago, Gallardo, Aventador, and Huracan, among others.

As founder Emanuel Colombini says:

“The Eccentrica V12 was our opening statement. The Roadster is the next chapter: more open, more immediate, more demanding. No roof. No filter. Nothing between you and the machine.”

With only 19 planned units, the Eccentrica V12 Roadster is likely to remain an extremely rare sight even by modern supercar standards.
