– Bad news for Ai Ogura: The MotoGP rider for Trackhouse-Aprilia, currently third in the 2026 MotoGP rider standings, will have to miss the upcoming race weekend at MotorLand Aragon in Spain. Ogura was injured while preparing for the race weekend and must take a break.

As the Trackhouse team announced on Wednesday evening, Ogura sustained the injury during training in his home country Japan, specifically to his left hand. It is a bone fracture in the thumb area.
“The fracture near the left thumb was discovered upon his return to Europe and requires surgery. He will undergo this on Thursday of this week,” states the Trackhouse statement regarding Ogura.
For the Aragon weekend, which begins on Friday, Trackhouse has already nominated a replacement rider. It is Aprilia test rider Lorenzo Savadori. The Italian is very familiar with the RS-GP26, as it is used by the Trackhouse team in addition to the factory team.

For Savadori, Aragon will be his second race weekend of the current season. At the Spanish weekend in Jerez at the end of April, he competed with a wildcard on an additional factory Aprilia. However, he did not score any championship points then, not even a finish. In the sprint, Savadori collided with Toprak Razgatlioglu. In the Grand Prix, he retired early.
When Trackhouse regular rider Ai Ogura will return after his announced left thumb surgery is not yet known. The 2026 MotoGP calendar continues after the Aragon weekend with two more race weekends in September, with the first September weekend being race-free.
At the end of June, Ogura celebrated his first MotoGP victory in Assen. In addition, he finished on the podium three more times in the 12 race weekends of the season so far. Ogura, from the Aprilia satellite team Trackhouse, is currently only 37 points behind championship leader Jorge Martin on the factory Aprilia.
