– Izan Guevara has secured his MotoGP ticket. The Spaniard will move up to the premier class in 2027 from Yamaha’s Moto2 team and will race for Pramac there. Yamaha is thus consistently relying on a rider from its own junior program.

“This is a dream come true for me,” Guevara explains after the announcement. “Reaching MotoGP has always been my goal, and I know how difficult it is to get into the premier class.” Many years of hard work and sacrifices were necessary, emphasizes the Spaniard. At the same time, he directs his thanks to his parents, his team, his physiotherapist, and all other companions on his journey.
Despite the now confirmed future, Guevara does not want to lose focus. “I am also very calm because my focus remains fully on Moto2,” he says. With BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha, the 22-year-old is currently still fighting for the title and is in second place in the overall standings.
From Moto3 World Champion to the Premier Class
Guevara has earned his promotion over several years. In 2022, he crowned himself Moto3 World Champion with GasGas and was already considered one of the biggest talents of his generation. After two difficult Moto2 seasons, he worked his way back to the top in 2026 and is currently among the title contenders.
Now the next step follows. Especially appealing to Guevara is the timing of his MotoGP debut, as a new technical era begins in the premier class in 2027. Yamaha sees this as the perfect opportunity for a MotoGP rookie.

Guevara himself also emphasizes: “MotoGP will enter a new era, and I think that will create opportunities for riders making the step up.” His immediate goal as a newcomer is to first learn as much as possible and quickly adapt to the new environment. “Then I want to improve step by step and reach the highest possible level.”
Yamaha sees its youth development confirmed
Yamaha regards Guevara’s promotion as an important success of its own development program. Racing director Paolo Pavesio explains that the manufacturer has known Guevara’s talent for many years. After the difficult Moto2 years, they worked together to develop the Spaniard long-term towards MotoGP.

“On this path, Izan has shown exactly what we hoped for. Beyond his undeniable talent and speed, he has matured significantly both as a rider and as a professional,” says Pavesio. Guevara is ready for the step up.
Pramac team boss Paolo Campinoti also welcomes the signing. Guevara earned the chance through his performances and continuous development. “Integrating Izan into our MotoGP structure is also an important part of the philosophy behind our partnership with Yamaha.”
Razgatlioglu stays at Pramac, Miller leaves
For Guevara, this marks the biggest chapter of his career in the motorcycle world championship starting in 2027. However, before that, the task remains to finish his Moto2 season as best as possible and maybe even win the world championship title.
Next season, he will share the box at Pramac with Toprak Razgatlioglu. The three-time Superbike World Champion switched to MotoGP in 2026 with a multi-year contract and has been racing for the Yamaha satellite team since then.

Guevara thus takes over the place from Jack Miller. It was also officially announced on Thursday that the Australian will not continue with Pramac-Yamaha in 2027. Razgatlioglu, on the other hand, will remain on board and thus become the direct reference point for Guevara’s first MotoGP comparison.
