In the last minutes, the ranking gets really intense again. Bezzecchi initially takes back the lead on quite used medium tires, but is then displaced again by Marc Marquez. The world champion, also on old tires, sets the best time with 1:31.468. Fernandez moves up to third place at the end.

Alex Marquez is fourth, Zarco completes the top 5. Acosta, Marini, Martin, Quartararo, and Di Giannantonio occupy the remaining top 10 positions. Bagnaia reduces his deficit to 0.993 seconds, but that is only enough for 18th place.

The final phase of this training is running. Marc Marquez leads ahead of Bezzecchi, Marini, Martin, and Alex Marquez. Zarco is sixth, followed by Quartararo, Fernandez, Morbidelli, and Acosta. A total of 13 riders are within one second. Bagnaia is a bit further back: as 16th, he is 1.120 seconds behind the leader.

Now Marc Marquez has pushed ahead of Bezzecchi and lowered the best time to 1:31.680 minutes. His soft front tire is seven laps old.

In the second run, some switched to the medium front tire. Others stayed on soft or put on a new soft again. Bezzecchi is the first to break the 1:32 mark and improves to 1:31.872 minutes. He now has just under two tenths of a second lead over Alex Marquez, who still holds second place.

After the first run, the standings are as follows: Bezzecchi leads ahead of Alex Marquez and Marini. Marc Marquez is fourth with just under four tenths of a second deficit, Acosta fifth. Martin, Morbidelli, Quartararo, Pol Espargaro, who replaces Vinales, and Di Giannantonio complete the current top 10.

Turn 1 claims the next crash victim. This time it is Acosta. He also slides early over the front wheel but gets up immediately and sprints to the track marshals to be taken back to the box as quickly as possible.

The track is now completely dry and the field can go out directly on slicks. The soft compound is used at the front, the medium-hard variant at the rear. After the first flying laps, Bezzecchi leads with 1:32.025 minutes.

The training has just started when the first rider is already down. Miller crashes on his outlap and ends up in the gravel with his Yamaha.

Ai Ogura must continue to wait for his MotoGP comeback. The Trackhouse rider failed the medical examination after his operated fracture on the left thumb and will therefore also miss the San Marino Grand Prix in Misano. The doctors advise the 24-year-old to continue rehabilitation.

After already missing Aragon, Trackhouse must compete in Misano with Raul Fernandez as the only rider. Lorenzo Savadori is not available as a replacement this time. Ogura now aims to return at the Austrian Grand Prix from September 18 to 20.

In Moto2 training, the track continues to dry. Manuel Gonzalez secures the top spot with a time of 1:35.031 minutes. For comparison: The track record is 1:34.216 minutes. Senna Agius is second. Izan Guevara is third. Only 90 thousandths separate the top 3.

David Alonso and Daniel Holgado finish the session in fourth and fifth places. Behind them are Filip Salac, Tony Arbolino, Barry Baltus, Alonso Lopez, and Alberto Fernandez. Celestino Vietti and Xabi Zurutuza cause the first crashes on this Friday.

The first Moto3 session starts on a still wet track with rain tires, but towards the end some riders switch to slicks and the pace picks up. Joel Kelso sets the best time with 1:46.033 minutes but is still nearly six seconds off the usual best marks. Leo Rammerstorfer takes advantage of the conditions and is second ahead of Adrian Fernandez.

Casey O’Gorman and Nicola Carraro round out the top 5. The rest of the top 10 includes Scott Ogden, Zen Metani, Adrian Cruces, Hakim Danish, and Marcos Uriarte, who replaces the injured Cormac Buchanan.

There was also an update on Alex Rins’ future before Misano. The Spaniard will not switch to the Superbike World Championship in 2027 and ends his active career on two wheels.

The 30-year-old Spaniard had two concrete offers from WorldSBK after his Yamaha exit at the end of the season but consciously decided on another, so far unnamed project that, according to him, motivates him much more. Rins looks back on 14 years in Grand Prix racing and six MotoGP wins. Five of those were for Suzuki before he switched to Yamaha via Honda.

There is also a prominent switcher from the Superbike World Championship to MotoGP: Nicolo Bulega will ride for VR46-Ducati in 2027 and will be teammate to Fermin Aldeguer. For the 26-year-old Italian, this closes a circle, as Bulega was already part of the VR46 rider academy at a young age and raced for Rossi’s team in Moto3 and Moto2.

After difficult years in Grand Prix racing, Bulega started anew in the Supersport World Championship, became world champion in 2023, and then established himself as a top Ducati rider in WorldSBK. In 2026, he is currently dominating the Superbike World Championship and is on the verge of his first possible world title. In MotoGP, Bulega initially receives a one-year contract with an option for another season.

This week, a double prominent newcomer for the Superbike World Championship was officially announced: Jack Miller and Brad Binder will leave MotoGP after the 2026 season and switch to WorldSBK in 2027.

Miller has signed a two-year contract with Yamaha and will be teammate to Andrea Locatelli. The Australian already knows the Yamaha R1 from the 8 Hours of Suzuka. Binder switches to BMW after seven MotoGP years and replaces Danilo Petrucci there. At the German manufacturer, the South African meets his former teammate Miguel Oliveira, who stays with BMW beyond 2027. Both, Binder and Miller, are thus facing their first full year in the Superbike World Championship.

The MotoGP makes a stop in Misano this weekend. The San Marino Grand Prix is part of a doubleheader, as the action continues directly the following weekend in Spielberg.

It rained yesterday and the track is still slightly wet this morning. However, the rest of the day is expected to remain dry. We will, of course, accompany the Friday trainings and the fight for direct Q2 entry as usual in our live ticker.
