Acosta’s best time remains until the end. Espargaro comes close with fresh tires, just 0.233 seconds behind, and finishes the session in second place. Martin is third ahead of Marc Marquez and Zarco. Bezzecchi, Fernandez, Alex Marquez, Moreira, and Marini complete the top 10. At the end, Alex Marquez’s fairing comes loose, but nothing more than a trip into the gravel happens.

Miller is the best Yamaha rider in 13th place. Returnee Ogura starts 19th with a 1.404-second deficit. However, he has the doctors’ clearance to continue.

Just under ten minutes remain. The order: Acosta, Martin, Marc Marquez, Zarco, Bezzecchi, Alex Marquez, Marini, Aldeguer, Di Giannantonio, Binder.

In turn 4, substitute rider Espargaro causes the first fall. He goes a bit too far onto the curb and lands directly in the gravel. He was unharmed. Meanwhile, Acosta has improved at the top to 1:29.851 minutes. Martin, Marc Marquez, Zarco, and Alex Marquez are his first pursuers.

Martin is back on track after his early problem and improves to fourth place. He is 0.560 seconds behind the session best time.

The first riders head to the pits after seven, eight laps. Now we also have tire info: In the first run, all are on soft-medium tires. Acosta leads ahead of Marc Marquez, who has moved up to second place.

Zarco is the new third. Alex Marquez, Bezzecchi, Marini, Aldeguer, Binder, Quartararo, and Morbidelli follow in the remaining top 10 positions.

After five laps, Acosta leads with 1:30.314 minutes ahead of Bezzecchi, Alex Marquez, Binder, and Marc Marquez. Meanwhile, Martin seems to have an early technical problem with his Aprilia. He rolls out and stops.

It remains cool in the MotoGP training. The air is twelve degrees, the asphalt just 15 degrees, but at least it is dry. We don’t have tire info yet, but it is assumed that the softer compounds will be used here.

In the first free practice of Moto2, there are some partly heavy crashes. Adrian Huertas, Angel Piqueras, Alex Escrig, and Collin Veijer are among the crash riders but seem okay at first glance.

Tony Arbolino tops the session with a time of 1:33.074 minutes just ahead of David Alonso, who is only 42 thousandths behind. Izan Guevara is third. Manuel Gonzalez and Celestino Vietti complete the top 5. Behind them are Filip Salac, Aron Canet, Daniel Holgado, Barry Baltus, and Deniz Öncü. The top 10 are separated by only 0.640 seconds.

David Almansa opens the first training of the day with a best time of 1:40.595 minutes and clearly beats the competition. Maximo Quiles is second, 0.648 seconds behind. Adrian Fernandez is third, followed by Alvaro Carpe and Brian Uriarte.

Rico Salmela leads the second half of the top 10 ahead of Joel Esteban, Veda Pratama, Guido Pini, and Valentin Perrone. Pini and Perrone cause the only crashes of the session, which takes place at only 11 degrees outside temperature.

Francesco Bagnaia experienced a real horror weekend in Misano. Accordingly, the waves ran high after DAZN released a video of a conversation between him and Fabio Di Giannantonio. The impression was given that Ducati was denying Bagnaia support.

Asked about it in Spielberg, the Italian clarified on Thursday: His statement that Ducati does not let him do certain things was taken out of context. It was about technical settings that he had already tried several times. Bagnaia admitted an unfortunate choice of words but emphasized that his relationship with Ducati remains good.

At the same time, he called on the media to put statements in the right context instead of misusing them for clickbait. Bagnaia also announced that he might say less to the media in the future.

Ai Ogura returns after missing two Grand Prix weekends. The Trackhouse rider had broken and operated on his left thumb during motocross training. A planned comeback in Misano failed, but Ogura received medical clearance for Spielberg.

Meanwhile, Takaaki Nakagami replaces Joan Mir in the Honda factory team. Mir had to give up early in Misano due to severe weakness. Examinations revealed altered blood values, which are now being further investigated. Nakagami comes directly from a two-day test of the new Honda RC214V for 2027.

And Tech3-KTM still has a substitute rider in action with Pol Espargaro. He is representing Maverick Vinales for the fourth time in a row.

The MotoGP rider field for 2027 is complete: Tech3-KTM confirmed Senna Agius this week as the second rider alongside Luca Marini. The 21-year-old Australian moves up to the premier class and will be one of five rookies next year. Tech3 thus relies on a combination of experience and young talent.

Agius has been racing in Moto2 since 2023, celebrated his first Grand Prix wins in 2025 at Silverstone and Phillip Island, and already won in Austin and Jerez in 2026. With his promotion, an Australian remains in MotoGP in 2027 after Jack Miller moves to the Superbike World Championship.

Just one week after the San Marino Grand Prix, MotoGP stops at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg. While it was sunny and warm in Misano except for a few showers, autumn has arrived in Austria. At significantly cooler temperatures, the riders face very different conditions.

In addition to the three world championship classes, the Bagger World Cup is also on the move this weekend. The support series celebrates its big season finale in Spielberg, the sixth stop on the calendar, and crowns its first champion.
