– What will become of Maximilian Paul’s Lamborghini team in 2026? The small Paul Motorsport squad from Dresden, which has fielded the 26-year-old’s Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo2 in the DTM over the past two years, is not only exiting the DTM but will also not compete in the ADAC GT Masters or the GT World Challenge Europe (GTWCE) this year.

Does this mean the end of the racing team led by his father Tobias Paul, following Maximilian Paul’s promotion to Lamborghini factory driver and his return to Grasser? “We have no racing entries planned this year, but are focusing on other projects in motorsport that we are excited about,” Maximilian Paul replies when asked by Motorsport-Total.com.
“We had a mega team last year – and the core group is still together,” he clarifies that the racing team will continue. “We also still have a car that is being used. 2026 looks like a quieter year, but we are already positioning ourselves for 2027.”
Paul team provides Lamborghini know-how in 2026
But which projects is the team focusing on in 2026? “The guys are supporting friendly and well-known teams to pass on the know-how that Paul Motorsport has gained in recent years,” explains the young racing driver, who was known for working on his own vehicle. He doesn’t want to name names, but speaks of “two teams”.
The fact that the Paul squad is the only team from the previous year no longer competing in the DTM in 2026 is due to the fact that Lamborghini only has a limited number of new Temerario cars available – and in the DTM, these are exclusively given to Grasser and Abt. The manufacturer did not want to see a parallel entry of the previously used Huracan GT3 Evo2.

Apart from that, the switch to the Temerario GT3 would have meant a major financial challenge for the Paul team, which works with a small budget.

Paul racing team plans comeback in 2027
While an entry in the ADAC GT Masters was not an issue at all for 2026 after the DTM exit, the team at least considered a GTWCE season but then discarded the plans. “We have been relatively relaxed about the topic this year after having so much pressure in recent years,” says Maximilian Paul.
In 2027, there is to be a comeback with racing entries, but it remains open in which championship and with which brand.
Although Paul Motorsport continues to exist, some key employees have also moved to Grasser with the Dresden native for 2026. These include chief engineer Tom Schuster, who will work as a performance engineer for both cars at the Austrian team, as he did at SSR Performance in 2024, and Maximilian Paul’s Greek race engineer Pavlos Votzakis.
