– First Formula E win for Nico Müller! The Porsche driver won the first race of the double-header on Saturday at the former Berlin-Tempelhof airport. After 39 laps, Müller triumphed ahead of Nick Cassidy (Citroen) and defending champion Oliver Rowland (Nissan).

With his maiden win in Formula E, Müller brought a celebratory mood to Porsche. Berlin is not only the home race for the German manufacturer, but Porsche is also celebrating the 75th anniversary of its motorsport division this weekend.
Müller and teammate Pascal Wehrlein’s cars therefore run in a special pink livery, inspired by the famous “Pink Pig”: that Porsche 917 which won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1971. Wehrlein, however, had less luck with the livery. After a tire damage, he finished the race only in 19th place.
Müller achieved the victory with a strategic masterstroke. Starting from sixth on the grid, the Swiss initially fell back in the early phase to save energy before working his way back through the field.
Since the field remained close together over long stretches, Müller was able to fight his way into the top 5 before using Attack Mode to take the lead. After that, he pulled away from the pursuers and stayed in front until the finish. This helped Porsche defend the lead in the team and manufacturer standings.

Cassidy came under pressure from Rowland in the final phase of the race but held on to second place and celebrated his third podium of the season. Rowland, in turn, fended off a late attack from Mortara and secured his fourth podium in seven races.
Pole sitter Edoardo Mortara (Mahindra) struggled with efficiency over much of the race but nevertheless took the lead in the championship due to Wehrlein’s problems.
The second race of the Formula E double-header in Berlin takes place on Sunday (May 3), starting at 16:05.
