Each unit of the special Formentor is distributed through the official Cupra dealers in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. The price has not yet been disclosed. Technically, the model is based on the well-known five-cylinder turbo, an engine with a long history within the group.

Abt increases the power with the Abt Power R performance optimization as well as the IWI system to around 467 kW or 635 hp. The top speed is 300 km/h. The unit is additionally supported by a turbocharger and an intercooler, which is intended to stabilize power delivery under high load.

The IWI system (Indirect Water/Ethanol Injection) works with an indirect water-ethanol injection before the throttle valves. The system is controlled by a specially developed electronic control unit from Abt. The goal is a thermodynamic improvement of the combustion process.

Through the additional injection, the intake air is effectively cooled, increasing the air density and making more oxygen available for combustion. This enables a constant power output even in the upper load range. The fill level of the IWI system is monitored by a sensor and displayed in the myABT app.

The chassis was specially tuned as an Abt coilover sports suspension to the performance level of the vehicle. It is oriented towards the requirements of the Nordschleife and allows individual adjustment via rebound and compression damping. This allows the setup to be varied depending on the area of use and driving profile. The system is complemented by Abt sports stabilizers, which support driving dynamics at high lateral accelerations and optimize power transmission.

Visually, the Formentor VZ5 635 receives its own aerodynamic package. This includes Abt air intake covers at the front, rear bumper extensions, and a rear wing in glossy black. The components are matched to the proportions of the vehicle and visibly change the silhouette towards a performance design.

Inside, Abt relies on subtle, model-related accents. These include a start-stop switch cap, floor mats with embroidered VZ5 635 logo, and a ventilation grille embossed with “1 of 30”. Each vehicle is thus individually marked.

Daniel Abt, CCO of Abt Sportsline and Cupra brand ambassador, describes the project as a consistent further development of the base: The Formentor was already a strong vehicle from the factory, but the implementation by the development team in Kempten sets new standards in driving dynamics within this class.
