Marc Marquez (Ducati; 1.): “Alex put quite a lot of pressure. I saw that it was very close even in the last laps. I just tried to keep a consistent pace. Alex Marquez: “Not driving quite right yet”
Alex Marquez (Gresini-Ducati; 2.): “I gave my best, in every lap, in every corner I just tried to get through because it was quite slippery front and back. Physically, I still can’t give 100 percent for the whole race. I still have to be a bit cautious and am not driving quite right. But as far as the race is concerned, it was really a good one. In the last lap, I even caught up a bit. I am very happy. This is a result I needed after the crash in Montmelo (Barcelona; editor’s note).”
Di Giannantonio: “Third place more than perfect”
Fabio Di Giannantonio (VR46-Ducati; 3.): “The goal today was to get on the podium and then of course to get as many points as possible because every point counts. That’s why I had to attempt overtakes right at the start because I knew they had a bit more pace. Maybe I was even a bit faster than Alex at the end, but here it is actually very difficult to find clear track and then overtake. In the last two laps, the risk would have been too great. Third place is therefore more than perfect, I am satisfied.”

MotoGP Sprint: The other points positions
Behind the top 3, Trackhouse teammates Ai Ogura and Raul Fernandez also finish in the top 5. The last points positions in the sprint go to World Championship leader Jorge Martin as well as Francesco Bagnaia, Pedro Acosta, and Fabio Quartararo.
MotoGP Sprint: Marc Marquez wins!
Nothing changes anymore. Marc Marquez brings the sprint victory home on his showcase track. Alex Marquez finishes second with a 0.368 seconds gap, Di Giannantonio third with a further 0.445 seconds gap. Thus, after the pure Ducati row at the front of the starting grid, the first of two races of the weekend with three Ducati riders in the top 3 has also ended.

Three laps before the end, Marc Marquez leads with a 0.6 seconds advantage over Alex Marquez, who has managed to pull away a bit from Di Giannantonio. However, Alex has not yet launched a serious attack for the lead.

MotoGP Sprint: Crash of Franco Morbidelli
Franco Morbidelli (VR46-Ducati) crashes in turn 1 and is thus the first retirement among the 20 starting riders.
MotoGP Sprint: Martin close to top 5
Jorge Martin, who started from P8 due to the non-start of Aprilia teammate Marco Bezzecchi, is currently in sixth place. With currently a seven-point lead in the World Championship over Bezzecchi, Martin has a great chance to significantly increase the gap this weekend.

After falling behind Ai Ogura at the start, Fabio Di Giannantonio (VR46-Ducati) regains third position. Thus, “Diggia” is the first pursuer of the Marquez brothers in the early phase of the 15-lap sprint.

MotoGP Sprint: Mostly uniform tire choice
With currently slightly heavier cloud cover but still zero rain risk and an air temperature of 24 degrees Celsius, 19 of the 20 MotoGP riders in the starting grid have chosen the same tire choice.
The hard compound on the front wheel, the soft compound on the rear, that is the preferred choice. The only exception is Yamaha rider Alex Rins, who also uses the hard tire on the front but the medium compound on the rear.
MotoGP Sprint is about to start
Everything is set for the first of two races in the premier class MotoGP. As already mentioned, the sprint will take place with only 20 participants due to the injury of Aprilia rider Marco Bezzecchi. Fermin Aldeguer (Gresini-Ducati) is missing the entire Sachsenring weekend anyway due to his crash in Assen.
Moto2 Q2: Ortola with new record lap on pole for the first time
Ivan Ortola (MSI-Kalex), who set a lap record in the morning training, improves his own best mark even further. The Moto2 lap record he set in the Q2 segment of qualifying at the Sachsenring now stands at 1:21.493 minutes. With this, Ortola secures his first Moto2 pole. However, his first pursuer is only 0.038 seconds slower.
As polesitter, Ortola has current championship leader Manuel Gonzalez (Intact-Kalex) and Izan Guevara (Pramac-Boscoscuro) next to him in the first row. The second row is occupied by Daniel Holgado, Senna Agius, and Alex Escrig.
On the other hand, Sergio Garcia did not set any Q2 time after an early crash. The Gresini rider, who came through the Q1 segment, will start the race on Sunday from 18th position.
