This is what the small Fiat for 15,000 euros, coming in 2028, could look like

(Motorsport-Total.com/Motor1) – The project name is E-Car, but behind the somewhat sober designation at first glance lies one of the most important vehicle developments in the Stellantis group. We are talking about the true spiritual successor to the Fiat Panda, the new edition of the Citroën 2CV, and a third, as yet unrevealed model. You see – small cars, big footsteps.

According to Stellantis, the “E” in E-Car stands for European, emotional, electric, and ecological. This is not just marketing, but also an industrial policy message: the vehicles are to be developed and built in Europe – for European customers. The EU Commission has been supporting such projects for some time, as they see an opportunity to secure industrial value creation and jobs within Europe.

The tiny electric cars, important pillars of Stellantis’ “FaSTLAne 2030” strategic plan, are scheduled to roll off the production line from 2028 at the Gianbattista Vico plant in Pomigliano d’Arco near Naples. The Fiat Panda has been built there for years, now as the Fiat Pandina.

We have put together some renderings for you of what the new car, which is likely to be visually closer to the original Panda of the 80s, could look like. We will also tell you what we know so far about the future Mini-Fiat and what the rumor mill has been delivering.

Simple and cost-effective design

Let’s first take a look at the design language of the small electric Fiat. It could possibly be called Pandina, Pandina Elettrica, or Quattrolino and, at a good 3.70 meters in length, take on the legacy of the legendary small Fiat models – from the first Fiat 500 “Topolino” to the Fiat Nuova 500 and the legendary Fiat Panda of 1980, designed by Giugiaro.

The parallels to the announced Dacia Hipster are striking. There, too, it’s about a small, affordable electric car with a reduced concept and a clear focus on urban mobility. To keep production costs and thus the list price low, the model could actually only have three doors – just like the first Panda. Clear, angular lines are conceivable, similar to the IPPO concept, with which ISIA Roma Design won the FIAT competition “Think Inside the Box / Think Outside the Box” for the car of the future.

The large side doors are designed to facilitate entry and exit, while the simple and straightforward body panels are also designed for low production costs. The protruding front headlights with LED technology almost look like a revival of the pop-up headlight. The coolness factor would be gigantic. Something similar can also be seen in the official teaser of the Citroën concept inspired by the historic 2CV, which is to be presented at the Paris Motor Show.

Possible premiere in Paris in autumn

A first study of the future electric Fiat is also expected to debut at the Mondial de l’Auto in Paris (October 12-18, 2026). However, the market launch will not take place until 2028. In autumn, it will then become clear how right we were with our rendering of the “Pandina Elettrica”.

Price likely around 15,000 Euros

The few other available information about the Fiat E-Car, which is to be built for several more years parallel to the Pandina Hybrid, primarily concerns the price. This will be “around 15,000 Euros,” as Emanuele Cappellano, Stellantis’ Europe boss, confirmed at the Automotive Roundtable of the Italian Ministry of Industry MiMIT.

Therefore, only a single power level for the electric motor and a battery with a maximum of 30 kWh are conceivable, which should, however, provide a range of at least 220 km. Only four seats could also be provided on board to reduce homologation costs.
