Mick Schumacher (RLL-Honda) is overnighting in 18th place. Starting from 13th on the grid, he lost one position to Marcus Ericsson (Andretti-Honda) in the first lap and then another to Rinus “VeeKay” van Kalmthout (Juncos-Chevrolet), who was plowing through the field. He then stabilized in 15th and was the last car in a pack of about ten vehicles. All behind him had to drop back.
The team opted for an overcut, which did not pay off. Schumacher lost ground to several opponents due to the later pit stop but fought his way back up to 17th before the rain started. However, he was slowly in danger of losing the lead lap due to the lost positions during the pit stop, so the subsequent yellow phase was welcome for him.
On lap 65 of 250, the caution was called, which would lead to the stoppage. Schumacher came in for another pit stop along with Alex Palou, Scott Dixon (both Ganassi-Honda), David Malukas, Scott McLaughlin (both Penske-Chevrolet), Christian Rasmussen (ECR-Chevrolet), and Santino Ferrucci (Foyt-Chevrolet). As a result, he only lost one position but now has fresh tires.
No good weather prospects for Sunday
Patricio “Pato” O’Ward (McLaren-Chevrolet) is overnighting as the leader in Milwaukee. The polesitter led in the early phase and fended off attacks from Josef Newgarden (Penske-Chevrolet).

However, Felix Rosenqvist (MSR-Honda) proved to be the strongest driver in the early phase. Starting from fifth on the grid, the Indy 500 winner took the lead after about 30 laps and pulled away. At the first pit stop, he stayed out longer than O’Ward and was overtaken by him shortly after the stop.
In third place is Alexander Rossi (ECR-Chevrolet), who gained many positions through an undercut. However, he has to manage the restart with the oldest tires in the field – on a track where tire wear is enormous. Newgarden is overnighting in fourth.
On Sunday, besides finishing the Snap-on Makers and Fixers 250, the second race must also be run, which will then be called only Snap-on at Milwaukee Mile (without Makers and Fixers). Mick Schumacher will then start the race from fourth on the grid.

As further rain is forecast for Sunday, it may happen that the race weekend extends into Monday. Then it should at least be sunny from noon.
