“The enthusiasm is huge on both sides,” continues the 51-year-old Brazilian. “It is really great to have such a renowned name in global motorsport on our team. Mick is a driver who comes to us with strong credentials.”
“He performed very well in his IndyCar debut season, proved that he learns extremely quickly, adapted effortlessly, and showed a lot of raw speed,” adds Castroneves. Schumacher narrowly missed the rookie title against Dennis Hauger and ultimately finished 23rd in the overall standings.

At Rahal Letterman Lanigan, Schumacher previously experienced a real rollercoaster of emotions with highs and lows. He surprisingly performed strongly on the ovals and achieved his only top-10 result with eighth place in Nashville. On the street course in Washington, he underlined his potential with eleventh place. At the same time, repeated driver and team errors prevented further scoring successes.
“It will be great to work with Schumacher and his entire environment. In short: We have the highest expectations for Mick and Marcus Armstrong next year,” Castroneves concludes. Meyer Shank is considered significantly more competitive than Rahal Letterman Lanigan, which is why Schumacher is expected to be noticeably further up the field in the 2027 IndyCar season.
