MotoGP Aragon 2026: Marc Marquez wins ahead of Acosta and Bezzecchi

– Marc Marquez won the Aragon Grand Prix at MotorLand Aragon. The Ducati factory rider initially prevailed against Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia) and was then able to break the pressure from Pedro Acosta (KTM). In the second half of the race, Marc Marquez rode in his own league and won with a demonstration of power ahead of Acosta and Bezzecchi.

For the 23-lap race, all 22 riders chose the medium Michelin tire front and rear. Around 51,000 fans gathered in the stands under sunshine and 30 degrees Celsius.

At the start, Marc Marquez braked past polesitter Bezzecchi in turn 1 just like in the sprint, but the Italian reacted better this time and regained the lead on the way to turn 3.

Jorge Martin (Aprilia) got through the first corners very well, as he was also able to overtake Marc Marquez and was second. But in turn 14, Marc Marquez made an aggressive move against Martin and overtook back.

After the first lap, Bezzecchi led ahead of Marc Marquez, Pedro Acosta (KTM), Martin, and Alex Marquez (Gresini-Ducati). In the second lap, Alex Marquez overtook Martin and was fourth again.

At the front, Bezzecchi led after three laps with a seven-tenths of a second lead over Marc Marquez. Acosta kept up with his KTM alongside the Ducati factory rider.

In lap five, Marc Marquez was almost four-tenths faster than Bezzecchi and closed up to Aprilia #72. In turn 14, he attacked for the first time and they rode side by side down the long straight.

Marc Marquez prevailed, and Acosta also used the double slipstream to pass Bezzecchi. Bezzecchi did not immediately counter and followed the two Spaniards.

In lap nine, Marc Marquez set a new fastest race lap, but Acosta was able to keep up. Bezzecchi’s gap grew to one second but then remained constant. Acosta kept the pressure on Marc Marquez high.

The Ducati rider tried to shake off Acosta and set a new fastest race lap again in lap 13. This time Acosta could not quite keep up and fell six-tenths behind Ducati #93.

In the next lap, Marc Marquez set the next fastest race lap and definitively shook off Acosta. Nine laps before the end of the race, Marc Marquez had a one-second lead for the first time.

While Marc Marquez continued to set high 1:46 lap times, Acosta and Bezzecchi rode low 1:47 lap times. Thus, Marc Marquez’s lead grew by tenths of a second. The decision was made.

Acosta finished 1.7 seconds behind and celebrated his fourth podium of the season. Bezzecchi was third. For the Italian, it was the eighth podium of the year.

Nevertheless, Bezzecchi lost second place in the championship standings to Marc Marquez. Martin now leads by 19 points over Marc Marquez and 24 over Bezzecchi. Fourth-placed Fabio Di Giannantonio (VR46-Ducati) is already 48 points behind.

Alex Marquez finished alone in fourth place, Martin followed in fifth. Ducati riders Fermin Aldeguer (Gresini) and Di Giannantonio took sixth and seventh places.

Behind them followed a large battle group from eighth place. Enea Bastianini (Tech3-KTM) prevailed in the last laps against rookie Diogo Moreira (LCR-Honda), and Brad Binder (KTM) overtook Jack Miller (Pramac-Yamaha) for tenth place.

In positions twelve to fifteen, Joan Mir (Honda), Alex Rins (Yamaha), Luca Marini (Honda), and Johann Zarco (LCR-Honda) also collected championship points. Zarco had to serve two long-lap penalties for the start crash in Barcelona.

Pol Espargaro, who again represented Maverick Vinales in the Tech3-KTM team, finished 16th. Lorenzo Savadori, who replaced the injured Ai Ogura at Trackhouse-Aprilia, was 17th.

With a 51-second deficit, Yamaha factory rider Fabio Quartararo saw the checkered flag last. Three laps before the end of the race, Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pramac-Yamaha) crashed out in turn 12.

In lap six, Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) crashed. Shortly after, Franco Morbidelli (VR46-Ducati) also went down. At the end of lap six, Raul Fernandez (Trackhouse-Aprilia) retired at the box with gearbox problems.

The next Grand Prix will take place in two weeks. From September 11 to 13, the race will be held at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. It is the San Marino Grand Prix.
