The Japanese rider injured his left hand during motocross training at the end of the summer break in his home country. Only after examinations following his return to Europe did the extent of the injury become clear.
Specifically, it was a bone fracture in the area of the left thumb. Ogura was operated on by Dr. Xavier Mir in Barcelona on August 27. Therefore, he had to miss the race weekend at MotorLand Aragon.
Now the 25-year-old will undergo a radiological examination on Tuesday to assess the condition of his left thumb. Then it will be decided whether Ogura can compete in Misano.
At the mid-season break, after the Sachsenring, he went into the summer break as second in the world championship, only 14 points behind Jorge Martin (Aprilia). Afterwards, Ogura finished second in the sprint at Silverstone but crashed in the Grand Prix.

As a result, he was overtaken by Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia) in the world championship standings and dropped back to third place. Since he missed the race weekend at MotorLand Aragon, he was also overtaken in the standings by Marc Marquez (Ducati) and Fabio Di Giannantonio (VR46-Ducati).
Before Misano, the 14th race weekend of the 2026 MotoGP season, Ogura is therefore only fifth in the world championship, 53 points behind Martin. For Aragon, the Trackhouse-Aprilia team nominated Lorenzo Savadori as a replacement. The coming days will show whether Ogura can be back in Misano.
If Dr. Mir gives him permission, Ogura must undergo another examination on Thursday by the MotoGP chief doctor Dr. Angel Charte, who must give the rider the final clearance (“fit”) to race.
