MotoGP Warm-up: Bezzecchi ahead of Marquez

Bezzecchi improves at the end to the only 1:30 time in this training and defends the lead against Marc Marquez, who is 0.376 seconds behind in second place. He has completed two laps less than the rest of the field, interestingly with the soft front tire.

Moreira finishes the session in third, followed by Aldeguer and Quartararo. Alex Marquez, Fernandez, Acosta, Bagnaia, and Espargaro complete the top 10.

MotoGP Warm-up: Acosta delayed

Almost everyone is running with medium tires front and rear. Acosta sets off a little late after a minor technical problem, so he is behind in laps completed. After four laps, Bezzecchi leads with 1:31.450 minutes.

MotoGP Warm-up: Final preparations

In the short warm-up session reserved only for MotoGP, the riders can enter the track once more for ten minutes and prepare for the race in the afternoon. The good news: This time it did not rain overnight or in the morning. The track is completely dry and the sun is shining.

Aprilia celebrates 80 years of Vespa

Aprilia also provides a special eye-catcher at the home Grand Prix in Misano: For Vespa’s 80th birthday, the factory team is running a special paint called “Perla Bianca.” The design is inspired by the white racing suit worn and won by Formula 1 legend Gilles Villeneuve at the 1981 Monaco Grand Prix.

Aprilia CEO Massimo Rivola calls it a tribute to “two icons” that, despite their different worlds, have shaped millions of fans. With this action, Aprilia wants to connect Vespa’s 80-year history with motorsport history and remember the unforgettable Canadian racer.

Gresini honors Marco Simoncelli with special design

The MotoGP Gresini team is hitting the track today with a special look. The design of the Ducati of Alex Marquez and Fermin Aldeguer is a tribute to the Honda with which Marco Simoncelli started for Gresini during his tragically short MotoGP career (2010 to 2011).

“It is an honor, but also a certain pressure to defend these colors,” Alex Marquez said at the presentation on Friday, which was also attended by Simoncelli’s father Paolo. “It’s a really nice idea from Gresini, as always,” said Marquez, who has a very good relationship with Paolo Simoncelli.

With this action, Gresini continues the celebrations for the 30th team anniversary and at the same time remembers a rider who is still closely connected to the team’s history. Marco Simoncelli died in an accident during the Malaysian Grand Prix in 2011. He was only 24 years old.

Review: Marquez sprint win like in Aragon

The start of yesterday’s MotoGP sprint was a blueprint of Aragon: As two weeks ago, Marc Marquez won the duel with Marco Bezzecchi in turn 1. The Ducati rider took the lead immediately and did not give it up until the finish.

The tire choice was also decisive: Marquez switched from soft to medium rear tire at the last minute on the grid. “With the medium, I could control the race better,” explained the Spaniard. Bezzecchi, who started on soft, had to settle for second place.

For the Grand Prix on Sunday, Marquez expects an even stronger Bezzecchi, even if Bezzecchi will also run the medium: “I think Marco with the medium tire will be the one to beat.”
