Tire pressure penalty for Vinales

Maverick Vinales has been given a 16-second time penalty after the race due to insufficient tire pressure. While the prescribed minimum number of laps with correct air pressure on the front wheel was met, the tire pressure on the rear wheel was only within the permitted range for two instead of the required 15 race laps.

The 16 seconds will be added to the race result retrospectively. However, this does not change Vinales’ 15th place, as the gap to Crutchlow at the finish was larger.

Martin penalized for start crash

MotoGP stewards have handed Jorge Martin a double long-lap penalty for causing the start crash in Turn 1 at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

The race stewards classified the collision as a dangerous action in the starting phase involving several riders. The penalty must be served at the next Grand Prix race and corresponds to the intended penalty for a first offense of this category in the current season.

Acosta still without a Sunday win

With today’s podium finish, his 13th in MotoGP, Pedro Acosta is now the sole leader in the list of riders with the most podiums without a win.

Marc Marquez: “We have come back”

Marc Marquez (Ducati/1st): “I am overjoyed. It was a hard-fought victory, because after last year everything changed. But that’s sport: everything can turn around from one day to the next. I already learned that in 2020 and then again last year. We have come back and worked hard. The first half of the season was difficult, but I knew I would have a great chance to win here. Whether I will get such an opportunity again in the coming races, I don’t know.”

“On Friday my feeling wasn’t perfect yet, but on Saturday we made a big step. I just want to thank everyone who believed in me: the doctors, the physiotherapists and all the people who worked many hours with me. The price was high, but now being back on top makes me incredibly happy.”

Acosta: “Getting the maximum out of the package”

Pedro Acosta (KTM/2nd): “We tried everything. It was a really good fight. I hope the spectators at home enjoyed it. We are currently getting the maximum out of our package. The pace was good, qualifying was good again, and we are on the podium again. I am very happy about that. The team is also happy. Last year we were not yet at this level here.”

“Now it’s important to switch off a bit at home and then go to Brno with full energy. We were quite competitive there last year. Thanks to everyone at home, to everyone who follows the races, and to the people who support me daily and train with me. We keep going.”

Bagnaia: “Was lucky in Turn 1”

Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati/3rd): “Luckily I didn’t have a particularly good start. Then, when I braked for the first time, I suddenly saw something coming with enormous speed. It was Martin, who felt twice as fast. Maybe there were two riders on the inside, and he crashed over the front wheel. The new asphalt in Turn 1 was very slippery anyway. I can’t say more about that.”

“I knew from the start that my race wouldn’t be against the first two riders. So I tried to stay with them in the first few laps. Then I told myself: ‘Stay calm.’ I had more than a three-second lead over fourth place and just had to manage that gap. That was enough, because today I simply didn’t have the speed of the two riders at the front. And honestly, I was lucky enough to even get through the first corner unscathed.”

Aprilia gives the all-clear: After the incident at the start, medical examinations of Jorge Martin and Marco Bezzecchi revealed no fractures. Martin only suffered bruises to his back and right foot. Bezzecchi, according to initial findings, sustained bruises to his right leg and right hand.

MotoGP: The remaining points positions

Razgatlioglu achieves his best MotoGP race result to date as eleventh. The last points go to Di Giannantonio, Rins, Morbidelli and Vinales. Crutchlow finishes 16th and last, 54 seconds behind the race winner.

MotoGP: 100th victory for Marc Marquez

Marquez completes the triple of pole, sprint and Grand Prix victory and also wins on Sunday. It is not only his first Sunday victory this season, but also the 100th Grand Prix victory of his career – only Valentino Rossi and Giacomo Agostini have more. At the same time, it marks the 100th victory for the Ducati factory team.

Acosta secures another podium finish as second, as does Bagnaia in third place. Ogura snatches Marini in the final phase and finishes fourth. Moreira, Lecuona, Miller, Bastianini and Binder form the second half of the top 10.

MotoGP: Diggia 13th

Remarkable: Di Giannantonio was the only rider involved in the mass crash at the start who could continue and even scored points in this race. He has overtaken teammate Morbidelli and is now in 13th place.

MotoGP: Quartararo retires

After another long lap penalty for cutting the track, Quartararo has returned to the pits. He only has a head shake for his crew regarding the M1.

MotoGP: Final phase

The last five laps are beginning and there are still no signs of fatigue or declining fitness from Marquez. He leads Acosta by over two seconds.

Bagnaia is another seven seconds back in third place. Marini and Ogura complete the current top 5. Miller has lost another position to Moreira, who is once again performing strongly here. And Gresini replacement Lecuona is also holding his own well in eighth.

MotoGP: Nightmare for Quartararo

After Bastianini received his second long lap penalty for cutting the track, Quartararo also suffers the same fate. He drops from 14th to 16th place and thus out of the points. With only 17 riders left in the race, he only has substitute rider Crutchlow behind him.

MotoGP: Intermediate standings

Ten laps are still to go. Marquez has already put a second and a half between himself and Acosta. He is thus heading towards his 100th Grand Prix victory. Bagnaia is riding a lonely race in third place. Marini, Ogura, Miller, Moreira, Lecuona, Binder and Razgatlioglu line up behind him.

MotoGP: Marquez overtakes

One lap later, Marquez tries again in 9/10 and this time it’s enough. Acosta has to back off and Marquez can immediately open a gap. This could have been the race-deciding maneuver.

For Mir, however, the race is over after a crash.
