The Tech3 team is thus relying on a mix of experience and new talent for the future. In recent years, Agius developed into a winning rider with the German IntactGP team.

In 2023, he won the Moto2 European Championship and simultaneously raced his first races in the Moto2 World Championship. 2024 followed with his first full season. Ironically, at the home race on Phillip Island, Agius achieved his first highlight with third place.

In 2025, he won his first Grand Prix in Silverstone and caused celebrations among his Australian fans in the autumn with the victory at Phillip Island. In the current season, Agius won in Austin and Jerez.

Next year, he will move up to the premier class. “We are convinced that Senna has the qualities,” says Tech3 CEO Günther Steiner, “to make a very strong step into MotoGP.”

“He has shown impressive speed and maturity in Moto2, but what really stood out to us was his determination to constantly improve, as well as his work ethic necessary for success.”

“We are building a team for a completely new era of MotoGP, and we wanted to combine experience with young talent. Senna represents an exciting part of this future.”

“We know there is still a lot for him to learn, but we are ready to support him through this process. We are very happy to welcome him to Tech3 and look forward to seeing him grow with us.”

There will still be an Australian in MotoGP

With Agius, there will also be an Australian in MotoGP next year. Jack Miller is saying goodbye after twelve years and is moving to the Superbike World Championship with the Yamaha factory team.

Next year, the Australian Grand Prix will move from Phillip Island to Adelaide. With Agius, the promoter still has a local draw for this important new race.

“A lifelong dream of mine has come true: moving up to MotoGP,” says Agius about this important career step. “So many years of hard work are behind this moment.”

“I am incredibly grateful to Günther and everyone at Tech3 for believing in me and giving me this chance. I can’t wait to repay their trust.”

“I know the challenge ahead of me, but I am ready to learn, work hard, and become the best version of myself with this team. I can’t wait to get started and make everyone proud.”

Since MotoGP will switch to Pirelli tires next year, reduce engine capacity, shrink aerodynamics, and ban the ride-height device, 2027 is considered an ideal entry for a Moto2 rider.

“Entering MotoGP with completely new regulations and new technology will be a big challenge for every rider,” says Tech3 team manager Nicolas Goyon. “It also gives us the opportunity to build something.”

“Senna is eager to learn, works hard, and has already shown that he can fight at the front. We are very happy that he is coming to Tech3 and can’t wait to see what we can achieve together.”
