The upcoming BMW i3 Touring uses the innovative architecture of the New Class and combines proven technology with increased loading volume. A current rendering now shows, based on initial prototypes, what the design of the model expected in 2027 could look like.

The New Class platform and its technology are to be transferred into an even more practical format – for everyone traveling with family or simply needing more space for luggage. Our rendering already attempts to anticipate what the i3 Touring could look like – based on design features emerging from initial prototypes.
BMW i3 soon available as a practical station wagon
The stylistic basis is the new i3, but the longer silhouette suggests an even more practical and travel-capable car. The front adopts the characteristic face of the new BMW family – with very clear surfaces, slim lights, and a deliberately reduced hood.
The most important difference, of course, lies in the body shape: The Touring is likely to feature a classic station wagon appearance and a more generous rear volume. In our rendering, we therefore imagine a sleek station wagon whose length could slightly exceed the 4.76 meters of the i3 sedan. Unlike the sedan, a new horizontally oriented light graphic could also be used at the rear.
BMW i3 Touring with all-wheel and rear-wheel drive
Regarding the powertrains, largely what is already known from the sedan is to be expected: The lineup is likely to include a variant with xDrive all-wheel drive and a total output of 345 kW (469 hp). The i3 as a notchback model uses a 108.7 kWh battery, which enables a range of 758 to 906 kilometers in the WLTP cycle.

Due to the slightly higher weight of the larger body, the Touring is likely to achieve a somewhat lower range. However, it should still be over 700 kilometers. As with the sedan, versions with only one electric motor on the rear axle are also expected to follow at a later date – with higher range and lower prices.
In terms of price, the i3 Touring is likely to be oriented towards the sedan: The i3 50 xDrive starts in the First Edition from 75,340 euros. Accordingly, the Touring is expected to be in a similar price range. More details will only be known in the coming months. The premiere could take place at the end of 2026 or early 2027, with market launch likely in mid-2027.
