– The former team principal and managing director of Red Bull Racing, Christian Horner, has commented on his surprising appearance at the Monaco E-Prix. In a conversation with talkSPORT directly on the starting grid of Monte Carlo, Horner explained that he is currently fully enjoying his break from the pinnacle of motorsport.

After his departure from Red Bull in July 2025, where he pulled the strings in Milton Keynes for two decades, Horner was repeatedly at the center of various rumors about a return to motorsport – including both Formula 1 and MotoGP.
“I was at MotoGP and looked at the bikes,” Horner explained. “Also, Coventry City got promoted to the Premier League, so I was quite busy watching the lads. And for the first time in 30 years, I have a bit of downtime, which I mainly spend with my family. That feels good.”
He added: “I’m enjoying the free time a bit, and it’s really nice to be at a race where you have absolutely zero pressure. Normally, when you stand here on the starting grid, you’re thinking about the next two hours. But I’m just here to learn a bit more about Formula E.”

The Brit also revealed that his visit to the Formula E paddock was made possible by the owner of the commercial rights of Formula 1: “I’m here as a guest of the guys from Liberty [Media], and it’s great to see how this championship is developing.”
For Horner, the weekend in Monaco was his first personal visit to a Formula E race ever, which also gave him a look at the new Gen4 vehicle generation.
“It’s my very first Formula E race. When you look at the Gen4 car – I mean, that’s going to be a huge step for the guys,” he said. “I think the car looks like a real beast. That will be a big leap for them.”
