– Good news from the Hospital General de Catalunya: Alex Marquez has been successfully operated on for his broken right collarbone after his severe crash at the MotoGP race in Barcelona.

The collarbone fracture was stabilized with a plate. The operation went well. Alex Marquez will fly back to Madrid later on Monday afternoon.
It is worth mentioning that he suffered another injury: a minor fracture of the C7 cervical vertebra, which was not operated on as the doctors initially opted for natural healing.
Regarding this injury, “further examinations will be carried out this week,” as the Gresini team stated in a press release on Sunday evening.
Alex Marquez will now begin his recovery process at home. A precise schedule is not yet available, so the further development must be awaited in the coming days.

That the 30-year-old is doing well under the circumstances was also shown by photos on his Instagram profile. Alex Marquez posted a new update from the hospital on Monday noon with three photos.
In them, he is seen video calling with members of his team. He is also smiling at the camera. The Gresini team is still at the track, as an official test day is taking place there on Monday.
At this test, only Fermin Aldeguer is participating for the Italian team. On Sunday, he achieved his first podium of the season with second place. However, the joy was dampened by the injury of his teammate.
