Cadillac shows Miami look: Formula 1 fans miss courage for creativity

– The American Cadillac team, which is starting as a newcomer in the 2026 Formula 1 season, is competing at its first home race in Miami with a special livery in the Stars-&-Stripes design. This is a development of the black-and-white color scheme, with the stars and stripes of the US flag subtly incorporated on the engine cover and 50 stars adorning the front wing – one for each US state. Some color was also added to the rear wing: there, “USA” can be seen on a red-white-blue background. (Photo gallery: The Cadillac special design for Miami)

While some fans praise the new design and even partly demand that Cadillac keep the Miami special livery for the rest of the season, others want significantly more color. “If they don’t come to the Austin Grand Prix with a complete US flag livery including colors, I would be really disappointed,” comments one fan on Reddit. Another adds: “A red and a blue star could have been cool. I know black and white are their thing, but a little thematic color for the home debut?”

Another fan writes: “The lack of color is so boring. I miss the old days when we had many colorful cars on the grid. These black-and-white or even worse, the heavily carbon-based liveries are just sad. IndyCar does a great job with strong colors. That’s why it’s disappointing to see how Formula 1 is falling behind other racing series.”

Another post reads: “It’s nice to have a good base and it looks very clean. But it’s just very boring. No color. Haas is white with red. Racing Bulls is white with blue and some red and yellow. Cadillac is just white with black. The concept liveries based on their other WEC race cars looked much more exciting and different.”
