Electric Mercedes C-Class: This is what the new interior looks like

(Motorsport-Total.com/Motor1) – With the first fully electric C-Class, Mercedes gives its mid-range model a completely new interior concept. Shortly before the world premiere on April 20, 2026, the manufacturer shows the cockpit and places much more emphasis on topics such as space, seats, operation, and acoustic comfort than before.

The C-Class uses an electric platform, which should be particularly noticeable in the interior. The elimination of the driveshaft tunnel creates more legroom, plus a large panoramic roof that visually opens up the space. Mercedes speaks of the most spacious C-Class ever. The design is oriented towards a lounge with flowing shapes, clear surfaces, and a reduced control layout. Materials, light, and sound are intended to create a cohesive environment, not just individual features.

Finally finest quality again?

Mercedes places special emphasis on material quality. Even the base version receives the new “Softtorino” leather with fine grain. The sports seats in Nappa leather feature a “Twisted Diamond” design with diamond perforation and contrasting stitching. In the AMG Line, striking moccasin seams are added on the side bolsters. For the color concept, Mercedes relies on three rather classic tones: black, beech brown, and ivory beige.

Metallic accents are intended to emphasize the technical appearance. Air vents, door handles, speaker grilles, and switches show a precise surface with clear edges. The speaker grilles feature a horizontal line graphic with 3D structure and bicolor look for the first time; in the Burmester 3D sound system, they are made of stainless steel. The trim elements range from open-pore natural fiber surfaces and fineline birch to AMG carbon fiber.

Interesting for many buyers: The electric C-Class will be the second model with certified vegan interior after the GLC. The corresponding package includes seats, headliner, pillars, door panels, and carpets. Mercedes thus addresses customers who want to avoid animal products without resorting to old-school artificial leather in terms of feel and appearance.

The new high-end seats clearly target long-distance drivers. Several electric adjustment options including memory function allow precise customization, a four-way lumbar support supports the natural shape of the spine. Options such as full-surface massage in the backrest, seat ventilation, and integration into the 4D sound system are also available. Mercedes thus links seat functions and audio effects more closely than before.

Hyper hyper … Or “just” super?

In the middle is a continuous trim piece that visually connects the instrument panel and center console. Embedded in it is either the new MBUX Hyperscreen or the MBUX Superscreen. The Hyperscreen extends across the entire width of the cockpit and uses a matrix backlight technology with around ten million pixels. Different brightness zones are intended to clearly display information while allowing separate content for the passenger.

Another focus is ambient lighting. Up to ten ambient styles for Hyperscreen and Superscreen link colors from the instrument cluster, controls, and light strips. The lighting extends from the instrument panel over the center console to all doors and optionally into the glass roof. 162 individually illuminated stars in the roof create a starry sky effect, the door panels appear like backlit sideboards.

With the ENERGIZING COMFORT programs, Mercedes aims to reduce stress in everyday life. Acoustics, massage, light, and screen animations work together to activate or calm the driver depending on the program. The ENERGIZING seat kinetics move the seat surface and backrest in small steps to relieve muscles. Pendulum routes, traffic jams, or charging breaks should thus be less exhausting.

On the topic of climate, Mercedes focuses equally on efficiency and comfort. A new climate control system with multi-source heat pump brings the interior to operating temperature significantly faster at low temperatures than known combustion engine versions. In one example at minus seven degrees, heating during a 20-minute drive takes only about half as long, with roughly halved energy consumption. The system starts automatically when entering and avoids excessive dehumidification to prevent dry eyes.

For acoustics, Mercedes relies on extensive insulation measures. A stiff body shell, an aerodynamically favorable body shape, and sound insulation from the front to the rear are intended to reduce noise levels. Elastomer mounts decouple the suspension and body, and the electric motors as well as the air conditioning housing receive special design. Mercedes installs laminated glass with noise insulation as standard in the front to reduce wind noise.

The world premiere of the new electric C-Class will take place on April 20, 2026, at 12:30 PM CEST in South Korea and will be broadcast via livestream. Then, first details on drive, range, and assistance systems that complement the interior concept will follow.
