Leclerc: Miami update still not enough
Speaking of Ferrari: We have already talked about the fact that Scuderia has reported a whopping eleven changes to the car to the FIA for this weekend. According to Charles Leclerc, however, the gap to Mercedes will not be completely closed with this.
“I think they were simply too far ahead of us for us to beat them with just what we bring here,” he emphasizes and explains: “I doubt that the order we have observed since the beginning of the year will change significantly because of this.”
He explains that some gaps between the teams may become “bigger or smaller”. But basically, he does not expect a completely different pecking order to suddenly emerge in Miami.
The last world championship leaders
After the 2022 Miami Grand Prix, a Ferrari driver led the Formula 1 World Championship for the last time. That was four years ago now. More about this in this photo gallery:

Curfew broken
Williams worked overtime during the night. This means the team violated the curfew between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. local time today.
However, there is no penalty because Williams has used the first of five allowed jokers this year.
Formula 2: Herta leads in training
There is no American driver and thus no local hero in Formula 1 this weekend. Prospectively, Colton Herta could become the next American in the top class.
Currently, he is competing in Formula 2, which is also racing in Miami this weekend. And there, the Cadillac test driver set the best time in training. The fans present were probably pleased.
Upgrades
The FIA has now published the list of all upgrades for this weekend. As already announced, McLaren brought a large package and reported a total of seven innovations.
Red Bull also has seven items on the list, Ferrari even eleven. In comparison, the Mercedes upgrade with only two smaller innovations is very manageable.
However, there are also some large packages in the midfield.

Verstappen: No update on the future
The Dutchman said about a month ago during the Japanese GP that he is facing important “life decisions”. He was of course asked about this again yesterday in his media round.
Regarding his future, he explains: “Honestly, there is nothing new in this regard. In recent weeks I have also been busy with other things, but yes, I still have time and am taking my time.”
Officially, Verstappen still has a contract with Red Bull until the end of 2028. Under certain conditions, however, he could leave the team early – and possibly even retire completely from Formula 1.
New rules at the start delayed
Actually, Formula 1 wanted to test a new “safety net” at the start already this weekend. However, our Italian colleagues from Motorsport.com report that this will not happen.
Background: The software is not yet ready, so the changes are now to be tested for the first time at the race in Montreal in three weeks. Another test is planned for the European season opener in Monaco.

No rain today yet
Good luck for everyone involved: Rain is not forecast for today in Miami. So the 90 minutes later in FT1 should be fully utilized.
It looks different on Sunday. Severe thunderstorms are possible in Miami, which could even lead to the race possibly being stopped.

FT1 extended to 90 minutes
It is just before 8:00 a.m. in Miami and thus the perfect time to start our ticker today. Especially since everyone involved had to get up a little earlier today, because FT1 starts 30 minutes earlier than planned.
The background is the new rules that come into effect in Formula 1 from this weekend. To give teams and drivers enough time to get used to them, the only training was extended from 60 to 90 minutes.
This has no impact on the rest of the weekend.
Formula 1 is back!
Hello and welcome to a new edition of our Formula 1 live ticker. For the first time in about a month, we welcome you here again to a real race weekend in the top class!
After the races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia were canceled, we are expecting a sprint directly in Miami this weekend. That means: Today there is only one training (6:00 p.m. CEST), then the qualifying for tomorrow’s sprint follows directly (10:30 p.m.).
Here at this point, we will provide you with the most important information, voices, and pictures directly from the paddock in Florida until the European night due to the time difference.
