How much slower is Formula 1 in 2026
Several drivers have already stated this weekend that Spa particularly highlights the weaknesses of the 2026 Formula 1 regulations. But how much slower has the premier class really become on the “Ardennes rollercoaster”?
In fact, the 2025 pole time was “only” about 3.8 seconds faster than this year, which is not fundamentally a disaster with a completely new regulation. What is truly alarming, however, is the speed difference on the straights.

He missed pole yesterday, but Max Verstappen can look forward to another award. His maneuver against Lewis Hamilton in Spielberg was voted the best overtaking move of June.

Kimi Antonelli drove yesterday with a 0.317 second lead over pole. The gap between P1 and P2 has never been this large in any other qualifying this year.
