– No details are yet known about the MotoGP future of the two current Honda riders Luca Marini and Joan Mir. Neither received an offer from Honda two weeks ago at the European season opener in Jerez. Both emphasized at the Spanish Grand Prix that they “want to stay with the Honda factory team”.

However, Honda is taking a different direction. Four riders have already signed contracts for 2027. These are Fabio Quartararo and David Alonso in the factory team, even though their commitments have not yet been made official.
Diogo Moreira and Johann Zarco already received contracts from Honda last year that also apply for 2027. Honda also has an option on Moreira for 2028, which is why the Brazilian always talks about a three-year contract.
Whether Honda will have a second satellite team with Tech3 is not yet decided. In any case, former world champion Mir is also in contact with other teams. Since Jerez, a MotoGP future is said to have emerged for him.
“I am in a position where I will do what my heart tells me,” Mir told Motorsport.com France, a sister platform of Motorsport-Total.com in the Motorsport Network.
“I will stay true to my feelings. I stay true to what I really want. That is the only thing I can say. But we will know soon.” Mir hopes for a decision “as soon as possible”.
Above all, he hopes for a decision he will have no doubt about: “It is important that the decision I make is really the one I want. That is important.”
“When you are younger, you can accept situations that you probably don’t want and tell yourself that you will sort it out over time.”

“I am not in that situation now,” the 28-year-old knows. “I am happy because the decision I make will be something I really want and that will make me happy.”
The Mallorcan also explained in Le Mans during his roundtable with Spanish journalists that his situation has changed in recent days. However, he cannot reveal anything yet.
“There is news about my future, but nothing is decided yet,” said Mir. “I think everything is developing well. It looks more like I will continue to fight in MotoGP.”
When asked, Mir admitted that he will “probably still fight here next year.” He expects to remain in the premier class, as there are still some open seats – namely at KTM and Trackhouse.
Trackhouse-Aprilia team boss Davide Brivio said two weeks ago in Jerez that he is looking for an experienced rider as a successor to Ai Ogura, who is moving to Yamaha, and not a rookie. Mir could become teammate to Raul Fernandez.
When Raul Fernandez, who also does not yet have a new contract, was asked in Le Mans if he could imagine staying with Trackhouse for two more years, he replied: “Yes, why not?”
