(Motorsport-Total.com/Motor1) – Kia expands the Sportage lineup in the German market with the special edition “Black Edition,” which distinguishes itself from the regular model through specific design features and extensive standard equipment. The basis is the compact SUV revised for the 2026 model year, which remains one of the brand’s highest-volume series.

The Black Edition is available with both conventional gasoline engines and as a hybrid and can be combined with either front-wheel or all-wheel drive.
Visually, the special edition of the Sportage differs through numerous elements finished in black or high-gloss black. These include, among others, 19-inch alloy wheels, trim strips on the front, sides, and rear, the underride protection design, as well as roof rails and exterior mirror caps. The brand logo and model lettering are also correspondingly adapted.
Several Single- and Two-Tone Variants
Additionally, two-tone paint options with a black roof are available, which are otherwise reserved for higher trim levels. Overall, the offer includes several single- and two-tone variants.
Inside, the design concept continues with dark surfaces. A black headliner and corresponding trims are complemented by seat covers made of leather and velour leather imitation. The equipment includes, among other things, electrically adjustable front seats, heated seats in the front and rear outer seats, ambient lighting, and a sensor-controlled tailgate.
Additional features include a two-zone automatic climate control, a keyless entry system, inductive charging options for smartphones, as well as various assistance and comfort functions such as a rearview camera, parking systems, rain and dusk sensors.

Two Gasoline Engines and One Hybrid Available
A central element of the revised model generation is the infotainment system “Connected Car Navigation Cockpit” (ccNC). It combines a 12.3-inch touchscreen with a fully digital instrument cluster of the same size into a continuous display unit. The system supports wireless smartphone integration and is linked to the Kia Connect online services. Depending on the package, these include functions such as online navigation, streaming services, in-car payment, and remote access to vehicle functions via an app. Software updates are delivered over-the-air and are part of a seven-year basic service.

In the area of driver assistance, the Black Edition also corresponds to the current state of the series. Standard features include adaptive LED headlights, a navigation-based cruise control system, a front collision warning system with pedestrian and cyclist detection, as well as lane keeping and lane following assistants. Additional systems, for example for highway driving, lane changes, or blind spot monitoring, are optionally available.
On the powertrain side, the common engine variants of the Sportage are available. The 1.6-liter turbo gasoline engine is offered in two power levels with 150 and 180 hp, the latter also with all-wheel drive. The hybrid combines the more powerful gasoline engine with an electric motor and achieves a system output of 239 hp. All variants are equipped with automatic transmissions, with the gasoline engine featuring a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and the hybrid a six-speed automatic. The maximum towing capacity depends on the drivetrain and is up to 1,650 kilograms.
According to Kia, the Black Edition is available for order immediately. Prices start at 42,550 euros for the gasoline version and 45,900 euros for the hybrid, each with front-wheel drive. The first deliveries are scheduled for the end of May. Leasing offers start at a monthly rate of 285 euros without a down payment, based on a term of 48 months and an annual mileage of 5,000 kilometers. The manufacturer’s warranty is seven years and includes an eight-year battery warranty for the hybrid model.
