(Motorsport-Total.com/Motor1) – with the presentation of the first images of the new Gamma, Lancia gives a preview of a model that is to be of central importance for the future orientation of the brand. The new Gamma was completely designed, developed, and engineered in Italy. The vehicle is produced at the Melfi plant, one of the most modern manufacturing sites within the Stellantis group.

According to the manufacturer, the first vehicles are already being tested on public roads. This means the project is entering its final development phase.
The technical basis of the new Gamma is the STLA-Medium platform from Stellantis. The model appears as a crossover fastback with a flat design and a sharply sloping rear section. Visually, the new Gamma resembles the Peugeot 3008 on the same platform, which is shorter. Also similar to the longer DS No.8. The body of the Gamma measures 4.67 meters in length, 1.89 meters in width, and 1.66 meters in height.
Multiple powertrains available
At market launch, the brand plans a broad range of powertrains. In addition to a hybrid version with 145 hp and a combined range of more than 1,000 kilometers, the Gamma will also be offered in several fully electric variants.
The entry-level is an electric drive with 230 hp and a range of over 540 kilometers. Above that is a version with 245 hp, which according to the manufacturer should enable a range of more than 740 kilometers. At the top of the lineup is a 375 hp all-wheel-drive model with AWD and a maximum range of up to 675 kilometers.

With the new Gamma, Lancia claims to reinterpret the traditional brand values. The model is intended to combine Italian elegance with modern technologies and high efficiency, thus representing the most advanced expression of the brand to date.
Developed for Europe
The production in Melfi plays an important role. The Gamma was specifically developed for the European market and is intended to simultaneously underline the technological competence and manufacturing quality of the Italian site. Order books are expected to open after the summer. Lancia plans to release further technical details and information about equipment in the coming months.
It remains open whether the Gamma will even make it to other countries such as Germany. There, we are still waiting for the new Ypsilon. In the recently presented Stellantis group strategy plan until 2030, it says simply: “DS Automobiles and Lancia are brands with a lot of tradition, which are very popular in France and Italy respectively. They are led by Citroën and Fiat and will be further developed as specialist brands.”
