Model year 2027: Mazda extensively upgrades the CX-30

(Motorsport-Total.com/Motor1) – The Mazda CX-30 starts the 2027 model year with a comprehensive update. Since its launch in 2019, the vehicle has combined compact exterior dimensions with a variable interior concept and has developed into one of the highest-volume models of the Japanese automaker in the European market during this time.

For the upcoming model period, Mazda is optimizing the vehicle especially in the areas of active safety, expanding the range of equipment lines, and refining design details in the interior as well as on the exterior. Major changes in design and powertrains are not expected.

A key focus of the model update is the modernization of the assistance systems. A central innovation is the systemic linking of the adaptive cruise control with the traffic sign recognition. This connection allows the driver to directly transfer recognized speed limits into the cruise control system by pressing a button on the steering wheel.

Additionally, the emergency braking assistant has been expanded with a turning detection at intersections as well as a specific motorcycle detection. The latter is now also used by the lane change assistant to increase the detection reliability of two-wheeled road users in the blind spot. From the 2027 model year, secondary collision avoidance and the attention assistant are also included as standard in the base Prime-Line version.

Subtle Revision

The visual appearance of the CX-30 has been modified with targeted accents. For the equipment variants Homura, Homura Plus, and the new special model Makoto, a black Signature Wing at the front of the vehicle, a black brand logo, and darkened model lettering are available from the factory. The color palette for the body includes a total of nine options, including the newly introduced shades Aero Grey and Zinc Green. The latter recently made its debut on the MX-5.

The range of equipment lines is structured for the 2027 model year starting from the Prime-Line, which is available from 29,990 euros and, in addition to the extended assistance systems, receives visual upgrades such as a matte black center console, black trim on the side windows, and newly designed LED daytime running lights.

The Centre-Line version starts at 32,440 euros and features new lighting of the center console, while the optional design package additionally offers a glossy black center console, chrome side window trims, and interior applications in gunmetal. The Homura version is available from 33,140 euros and is characterized by sporty design features as well as black exterior components.

Completely new is the Homura Plus equipment line for a price starting at 37,140 euros. This variant offers an advanced matrix LED lighting system with a special marking light for pedestrians, which also automatically reduces brightness when detecting traffic signs to minimize glare effects. Further features include a 360-degree camera, a parking assist with braking function for rear cross traffic, black leather seats with electric adjustment and heating in front, a black roof rail, and a Bose surround sound system with twelve speakers.

The Exclusive-Line starts at 35,790 euros and brings a silver roof rail as well as a 360-degree camera with see-through view function, while the traditional top variant Takumi from 38,190 euros in the new model year is supplemented with black decorative elements and active seat ventilation for the front seats.

New Special Model Makoto

Also new in the program is the special model Makoto, which is available from 34,440 euros and features a bright interior with synthetic leather covers in white and light gray as well as a dashboard in light gray velour leather imitation. A silver key cover, specific floor mats, the 360-degree camera, and the Bose sound system are also part of the package, giving the Makoto variant a structural customer advantage of 1,000 euros compared to a similarly equipped standard model.

Two Naturally Aspirated Gasoline Engines, No Diesel

For the drive of the Mazda CX-30, as before, two naturally aspirated gasoline engines are available, which are equipped as standard with a 24-volt system for brake energy recovery. The e-Skyactiv G 140 delivers 103 kW or 140 hp from 2.5 liters displacement and provides a maximum torque of 238 Newton meters at 3,300 revolutions per minute. It features an automated cylinder deactivation to increase efficiency in partial load range. Power transmission is optionally via a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic transmission.

The top engine remains the e-Skyactiv X 186 with a power output of 137 kW or 186 hp from 2.0 liters displacement and a maximum torque of 240 Newton meters at 4,000 revolutions per minute. This unit uses the innovative SPCCI combustion process, which combines the characteristics of a classic gasoline engine with the compression ignition of a diesel engine. This powertrain can optionally also be coupled with the i-Activ AWD all-wheel drive.

Mazda equips all new vehicles from the factory with a 6-year manufacturer warranty, which is valid up to a total mileage of 150,000 kilometers and covers possible material or manufacturing defects excluding regular wear parts.
