At the end of this race day, a late penalty arrives: Fabio Quartararo is given a 16-second penalty. The reason is a technical violation in monitoring tire pressure: The front tire sensor was not correctly registered in the Yamaha receiver, so no valid data was recorded during the race.

Since tire pressure sensors and data recording are mandatory in MotoGP, the race stewards intervene. Quartararo loses twelfth place due to the time penalty and falls out of the points positions.

Aprilia continued its own success story at Silverstone this weekend. Today’s triple victory is already the third of the current MotoGP season after Le Mans and Assen. With Raul Fernandez’s victory, Aprilia also celebrates the seventh season win and the 15th Grand Prix win in the MotoGP premier class. In addition, it is the 309th win for Aprilia in the history of the motorcycle world championship.

Especially remarkable: With Fernandez, every Aprilia rider in the current MotoGP field has now won at least one Grand Prix this season. In the world championship, Jorge Martin, Marco Bezzecchi, and Ai Ogura remain at the top with three Aprilia riders. This had never happened before this weekend.

The British Grand Prix attracted a total of 105,885 spectators to Silverstone this weekend. Already before the race weekend, 27,137 fans were counted. On Saturday, 35,663 more came, and on Sunday there were 43,085 spectators.

Thus, the expectations were not met. Last year, the MotoGP event recorded nearly 100,000 on-site spectators at its May date. A higher increase compared to 2025 was expected from the return to August.

Sunday in Silverstone ends with the second race of the Bagger World Cup and a victory by Archie McDonald. The polesitter loses the lead at the start only briefly but then does not give it up. Eric Granado, who puts on quite a bit of pressure in between, has to settle for second place. Jordi Torres completes the podium.

Oscar Gutierrez finishes fourth. Saturday winner Bradley Smith this time does not get beyond fifth place. Andrea Iannone finishes sixth.

In the overall standings, Granado leads with 147 points ahead of McDonald (142) and Gutierrez (128). Thus, the top 3 are within only 19 points. Two more race weekends with two races each in Aragon and Spielberg remain.

David Almansa (IntactGP-KTM/1.): “I am at a loss for words right now. I suffered a lot to get back here. I can only thank my family, my friends, and of course the team.”

“I really have no words. I gave 200 percent to finish the race in first place. Now I am back and will give 100 percent again to finish the championship in the best possible position.”

Alvaro Carpe (Ajo-KTM/2.): “It was an incredibly tough fight. The hardest rider to overtake was Petito [Adrian Fernandez], because he was very strong on the straights. In the corners, he also braked quite hard. At the same time, he had a bit of trouble with the pace. But we managed to finish second in this very difficult race. Almansa also had a very good pace, Brian [Uriarte] made it hard for us, and Valentin [Perrone] also fought very hard.”

“I have to congratulate them because they raced well – and also myself because I managed to bring second place to the finish. In the middle of the race, I started to feel that the bike no longer had as much power on the straights. Because of that, I couldn’t get as close to the rider in front of me when braking. But it was still enough. I am very happy about that. Congratulations to the team because they made this success possible in the first place. Also thanks to my family and all my friends.”

Valentin Perrone (Tech3-KTM/3.): “It was a really tough race. The pace was extremely fast and I was constantly at the limit. I was close to crashing the whole time and fought to keep up with the group.”

“In the last lap, I then saw this small gap and said to myself: ‘I have to try.’ I haven’t had a really good phase recently and trained a lot during the summer to get back to the level from the start of the season. Now it’s time to enjoy the podium, rest a bit, and prepare for Aragon to give everything again there.”

Kelso leads the second half of the top 10 as sixth, followed by Salmela, O’Shea, Pratama, and Bertelle. Rios, O’Gorman, Pini, Gonzalez, and Singhapong secure the remaining points positions. A total of 19 riders finish, with Uriarte in last place. Carraro crashes late, Yamanaka retires with a technical defect.

Almansa perfectly executed his breakaway and wins at the end with a fairly clear lead of seven tenths of a second. Uriarte crashes in turn 6 of the last lap and can no longer compete for the podium.

The remaining podium places go to Carpe and Perrone. Fernandez finishes fourth. He is only 0.120 seconds behind the podium. Esteban completes the top 5.

The last lap is running and Almansa has gained a few decisive tenths at the front to avoid being immediately caught by the chasers on the straight. Can he hold this advantage to the finish?

Three laps to go and Almansa’s lead comes under pressure. Uriarte attacks at the start of lap 13 and passes. But he cannot hold the lead for long. Almansa and also Fernandez pass again in the slipstream.

Ten of 15 laps are completed. 21 riders are still in the race, as Buchanan also crashed out. Almansa sets the pace at the front and can now pull away a bit. Carpe, Fernandez, Uriarte, Esteban, and Perrone are still within striking distance. Nothing is decided here yet.
