New VW Golf Falco: Limited GTI as a Tribute to Falco

(Motorsport-Total.com/Motor1) – Volkswagen is launching two special Golf editions in Austria. The new Golf Falco Editions honor the Austrian music icon Falco and continue the long tradition of VW special models with a musical connection. However, for fans outside Austria, there is a clear disappointment, as both versions remain exclusive to this market.

Volkswagen links the history of the compact classic with Austrian pop culture in the Golf Falco Edition. Already in the 90s, the brand used major European tours by Genesis, Pink Floyd, the Rolling Stones, or Bon Jovi for special editions. The new editions continue this line. The message is clear: music is firmly part of the brand strategy, and this time a local icon is deliberately in the spotlight.

The Golf Falco Edition appears as an independent model. Standard features include LED matrix headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, and a Harman Kardon sound system. Black accents and special decals on the B- and C-pillars provide visual highlights. There you will find lyrics, Falco’s signature, and the FALCO lettering. Inside, a badge bears the edition’s name, making the special status visible.

The package includes a presentation box clearly aimed at music fans. It contains a keychain, a microfiber cloth, Beats by Dr. Dre Studio Pro headphones, and a vinyl edition of “Falco 3”. With this, Volkswagen literally picks up the connection between car and music to touch. The Golf Falco Edition starts in Austria from 27,490 euros including trade-in and Porsche Bank package bonus, with a list price of 32,990 euros.

Volkswagen positions the Golf GTI Falco Edition even more exclusively. The special model is strictly limited to 40 units. Technically, the GTI comes with a black painted roof, 19-inch wheels, Black Style package, Harman Kardon sound, and adaptive DCC suspension. Color options include black, red, and moonstone gray. This clearly targets collectors and fans with a GTI affinity.

The GTI also receives a deluxe presentation box. It includes a keychain, microfiber cloth, Beats Studio Pro headphones, and a deluxe vinyl edition of “Falco 3”. Additionally, wheel center caps bear the Falco signature, and inside a badge “Falco Edition 01/40” indicates the limitation. The Golf GTI Falco Edition starts at 50,990 euros including bonuses, with a list price of 56,490 euros.

Volkswagen emphasizes the local character of the project. Falco lived and worked in Austria, and the Golf has regularly dominated the country’s sales statistics since 1974. The decision to offer the Falco Editions only in Austria is intended to strengthen this connection. For German fans and other markets, this leaves only the view across the border to two special models that closely link music history and Golf tradition. And no German is prevented from buying their car in Austria …

The premiere of Golf Falco and Golf GTI Falco took place in the legendary Vienna club U4, one of Hans Hölzel’s former regular venues.
