(Motorsport-Total.com/Motor1) – Some people have problems that others would love to have. For example, when a standard Porsche 911 GT3 is apparently not fast enough for them. For this specific target group, Manthey has now developed a new performance kit for the 992.2, which is available immediately. The effort behind it is enormous and shows that there is enough potential for such conversions that further push the limit between road and race track.

The numbers prove the concept right. DTM champion Ayhancan Güven completed a lap of the 20,8-kilometer Nürburgring Nordschleife in 6:52,981 minutes. This makes the kit almost three seconds faster than the Manthey GT3 of the previous 992.1 generation. And that’s despite the track conditions not even being ideal, according to Manthey. For comparison: the standard Porsche 911 GT3 (992.2) in the hands of factory driver Jörg Bergmeister also took almost 3,5 seconds longer at 6:56,294.
A main reason for the improved lap time is the sophisticated aerodynamics. The complete package generates 540 kilograms of downforce at 285 km/h. This is ensured, among other things, by a new carbon rear wing with a Gurney flap, a larger rear diffuser from the GT3 RS, and special carbon aerodiscs on the rear wheels. The almost completely covered underbody with 150-centimeter-long air guide elements also contributes to the improved performance.
The heart of the kit is the 4-way adjustable aluminum coilover suspension. Its rebound and compression stages can be adjusted without tools for low- and high-speed ranges. The spring rates have been optimized for circuit use, with 20 percent more on the front axle and 7 percent less at the rear. Steel-braided brake lines are intended to provide a more direct pedal feel. For ambitious track day drivers, there are optional racing brake pads.

However, the price for the optimization is not insignificant. Manthey is asking almost 50.000 euros for the kit, for which you could almost get a new Golf R. In return, you get a package in which all components are precisely matched to one another and may only be installed together. The Porsche factory warranty remains intact. So, if you want to pimp your GT3 in time for the start of the Nordschleife season, you should give Manthey a call.
