Proud dad: Son of Susie and Toto Wolff wins first karting title

– Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff had double reason to be happy on Sunday. “We have a double victory today,” he laughed in an interview with ORF after Kimi Antonelli’s win at the Formula 1 race in Madrid. However, the Austrian was perhaps even more pleased about the second mentioned victory in Italy.

There, his son Jack claimed his first title in karting. “He is nine and won the under-10 championship, the minis,” Wolff proudly reports. Jack won the last race of the weekend and thus also the title in the X30-U10 class of IAME Italy.

Like a pro, the nine-year-old then gave an interview and explained: “It was good. We had some wins and also some bad races. But in the end, we fought well and won the championship. So I am really happy.”

“Before the season, I wouldn’t have thought I would win almost all the races,” said Wolff, who had already celebrated two wins before his triumph at the finale. By the way, another boy with a well-known last name also competed in the championship: Johan Berger, son of former Formula 1 driver Gerhard Berger.

Meanwhile, ORF expert Alexander Wurz joked towards father Toto about when Jack could be expected in Formula 1. “Not anytime soon, and we are not even talking about that,” the Mercedes team boss immediately dismissed and explained that it is still a long way to go. “Then there are juniors and seniors [in karting]. So we are keeping things in perspective,” said the Austrian.

Jack Wolff was born in 2017. Besides father Toto, mother Susie Wolff also has plenty of motorsport experience. The 43-year-old drove for seven years in the DTM during her active career and was also a Formula 1 test driver for Williams. Since 2023, she has been head of the F1 Academy.
