Sebastien Ogier returns after Finland crash: “Ready for Paraguay”

– Sebastien Ogier has recovered from his serious accident at the Rally Finland and states that he is ready to return to the World Rally Championship (WRC) next week in Paraguay, which he will compete in again together with his regular co-driver Vincent Landais.

The reigning world champion and his substitute co-driver Julien Ingrassia were leading in Finland when their GR Yaris went off the road and rolled over several times. The duo was able to free themselves from the wreck without outside help but were taken to the hospital for precautionary examinations and released the following day.

“The Rally Finland did not go as we had hoped, after it was a very good rally up to the point where it ended for us. But the most important thing is that Julien and I were both okay. Now we had some time to rest and recover, and I am ready to compete together with Vincent in Paraguay,” says Ogier.

After the accident, Ogier announced that he would expand his part-time program and compete in the remaining WRC rounds in Paraguay, Chile, Italy, and Saudi Arabia – provided the season finale takes place.

“Even though our title chances are more or less gone, we want to aim for the top step of the podium at each of the remaining rounds this year and help the team secure the manufacturers’ title,” says Ogier, who is 62 points behind championship leader Elfyn Evans in the drivers’ standings.

Paraguay is a good ground for Ogier. A year ago, the Frenchman won the debut of the rally as part of the WRC. “We had a great first rally in Paraguay last year, with a fantastic atmosphere as well as challenging special stages and conditions. We will do our best to repeat our victory there,” he says.
