– Currently, the rumor mill is buzzing around the future of Max Verstappen in Formula 1. Besides a departure from Grand Prix racing, possible moves to Mercedes or McLaren are currently being discussed. However, during the official press conference before the Belgian Grand Prix, the four-time world champion does not reveal anything.

When asked if he wants to comment on the rumors of the past weeks and months, the brief answer from the Red Bull driver is: “No.”

Also, when asked what Verstappen thinks about the rumors surrounding his Formula 1 future, the 28-year-old’s answer is equally short: “Nothing.”

The question of whether there is a specific time when Verstappen wants to comment on his future is answered at the press conference: “No, there is nothing to say.”

Then Verstappen is explicitly asked if he wants to race for Red Bull next year. “I don’t want to say anything about that,” is the answer from the 71-time Grand Prix winner. “Yes, no, this or that about my future. I have often said that if there is something new, I would announce it myself.”

Especially after the race weekends in Austria and Great Britain, speculation about the future of the Red Bull driver was fueled. After all, Verstappen was anything but pleased with the technical problems on his rear wing.

Both at the Red Bull Ring and at the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit, Verstappen went off track due to a problem closing the rear wing. While in Austria only a few grid places were lost in qualifying, the defect in England cost him a seemingly secure podium. “That of course cannot be,” were his words after the failure in Silverstone.

Apart from these mishaps, the overall situation at Red Bull is causing a stir. With Adrian Newey, Rob Marshall, and Jonathan Wheatley, important personalities have gradually left the Milton Keynes racing team in recent years.

Also, Gianpiero Lambiase, who has been Verstappen’s race engineer for years, will no longer belong to the Red Bull cosmos from 2028. Instead, he is expected to take a prestigious position at McLaren.

Besides the team from Woking, Mercedes is considered a possible team for Verstappen. Stories about a possible move have been circulating in the media for years, but especially a meeting between Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff and Jos Verstappen sparked headlines at the Canadian Grand Prix.
