Nobody can beat Alex Marquez’s best time. The Gresini rider remains ahead with 1:58.692 minutes. Bezzecchi holds second place, Acosta improves to third and breaks the 1:59 mark.

Raul Fernandez and Di Giannantonio complete the top 5, separated by just 0.364 seconds. Marc Marquez leads the second half of the top 10 ahead of Ogura, Martin, Morbidelli, and Bagnaia. Mir is the best Honda rider in eleventh place. The first Yamaha follows with Quartararo in 15th place. He is 1.306 seconds behind.

The order before the last run in this session: Alex Marquez, Bezzecchi, Raul Fernandez, Di Giannantonio, Marc Marquez, Martin, Morbidelli, Bagnaia, Mir, and Ogura. The latter has fresh tires on. Acosta is also back on track after his crash and has fresh tires. The rest of the current top 10 are on used tires.

In the second run, most riders are on used tires. Bezzecchi can still improve and is the new second. He is only 0.173 seconds behind Alex Marquez, who still holds the best time. Di Giannantonio has placed himself as the new fourth behind Raul Fernandez.

Acosta causes the first crash of the session in turn 15. It’s a front-wheel slide at high speed, but Acosta is okay. Nevertheless, he cannot continue directly and has to return to the pits by other means.

After six laps, the first riders finish their run and turn into the pits. After a brief Aprilia triple lead, Alex Marquez has moved back to the top. He is the first rider with a 1:58 time.

Raul Fernandez is the first pursuer, 0.329 seconds behind. Martin, Bezzecchi, and Marc Marquez follow behind, but are already more than half a second behind.

The field has gone out with the medium tire on the rear wheel. On the front wheel, we mostly see the soft compound and only occasionally the medium variant.

For the moment, Alex Marquez leads with 1:59.436 minutes ahead of Raul Fernandez, Acosta, Mir, and Marc Marquez. But the order changes with each lap.

The next 45 minutes on track belong to MotoGP. It is still dry, the air temperature is 19 degrees, the asphalt 33 degrees. In the first practice after the three-week summer break, the main goal is to get back into rhythm, even if many riders have already tuned themselves in on production motorcycles in recent days.

In Moto2 this morning, championship leader Manuel Gonzalez clearly had the upper hand. He dominated the session and finally topped it with a best time of 2:02.333 minutes, just under half a second ahead of Barry Baltus in second place. Filip Salac is already 0.774 seconds behind in third.

Daniel Holgado is fourth, Izan Guevara fifth. Behind them are Senna Agius, Alonso Lopez, Tony Arbolino, Sergio Garcia, and Celestino Vietti. David Alonso finishes a distant 17th after a crash.

Practice Friday starts in sunny and dry conditions. In Moto3, David Almansa secures the first best time with 2:10.553 minutes, four tenths ahead of Scott Ogden, who moves into second place at the end. Adrian Fernandez is third. Joel Kelso and Marco Morelli complete the top 5.

Championship leader Maximo Quiles drops back to seventh place behind Veda Pratama after a late slide. Alvaro Carpe, Hakim Danish, and Valentin Perrone occupy the remaining top 10 spots, separated by 0.907 seconds at the end.

At the 2026 British Grand Prix, there are several changes in the MotoGP field: Yamaha test rider Augusto Fernandez receives his fourth wildcard of the season.

Iker Lecuona replaces the injured Fermin Aldeguer at Gresini, Pol Espargaro steps in for Maverick Vinales at Tech3-KTM. Cal Crutchlow also remains in the field as a replacement for the injured Johann Zarco. It is already his sixth appearance since Mugello.

Even before MotoGP visits the Silverstone Circuit for the 26th time this weekend, the contract extension with the traditional race track was announced on Thursday. This secures the race’s place on the calendar until at least 2028.

The next British Grand Prix will again take place in August 2027. Last year, the event attracted almost 100,000 spectators.

MotoGP is back from the summer break and starts the second half of the season this weekend at the British Grand Prix. The title fight could hardly be closer, as only 24 points separate the top 5. Who can gain an advantage in Silverstone?
