The first practice Friday after the summer break is done, and Aprilia, in particular, presented itself strongly. Whether this will continue tomorrow, when it comes to qualifying and the sprint, remains to be seen. In the second free practice of the Bagger World Cup, Eric Granado is ahead, just like in the morning. He topped the session with a time of 2:09.278 minutes, ahead of Andrea Iannone in second place and Oscar Gutierrez in third. Bradley Smith and Jordi Torres complete the top 5. Tomorrow, the support series will be competing for both pole position and the first race win of the weekend.

In the final minutes, four riders immediately undercut Ogura’s new track record. Bezzecchi finally corrected it to 1:56.280 minutes and secured the top spot ahead of Raul Fernandez and Di Giannantonio. Martin finished fourth, Ogura fifth. This means Aprilia is collectively represented in the top 5.

Marc Marquez finished Friday in sixth place. His gap at the end was 0.733 seconds. Alex Marquez, Mir, Miller, and Acosta secured the remaining direct Q2 spots. Bagnaia was pushed back to 14th place.

And the next crash happens: This time, Acosta crashed at turn 4. However, it looks like he can continue. He is far from safe in eighth place.

Hardly back on track, Bagnaia slides out over the front wheel at turn 6. That should be it for the Ducati rider. He is still in tenth place.

The current top 10 consists of Ogura, Di Giannantonio, Marc Marquez, Bezzecchi, Raul Fernandez, Alex Marquez, Martin, Acosta, Miller, and Bagnaia. Mir, Morbidelli, and Marini are scratching at the direct Q2 spots behind them. One more run remains to improve.

Now the times are tumbling and the standings are changing rapidly. Marc Marquez clocks a time of 1:57.035 minutes into the asphalt despite some wobbles, which corresponds to a new track record. But shortly after, Ogura tops that with the first 1:56 time on this track! The Japanese rider leads.

The field has switched to fresh soft tires. The signs are set for a time attack. Only the top 10 will go directly into Q2. Acosta leads with 1:57.535 minutes, while his teammate Binder ends his fast lap in the gravel.

Just over 20 minutes remain on the clock. At the moment, we have a Trackhouse one-two: Ogura has set a new best time of 1:57.628 minutes and is one tenth of a second ahead of teammate Raul Fernandez. Marc Marquez is the new third, followed by Bagnaia and Morbidelli. Bezzecchi, Alex Marquez, Acosta, Martin, and Lecuona complete the top 10.

Raul Fernandez has gone out with a fresh soft rear tire and thus sets the first 1:57 time of the day. Shortly after, Morbidelli follows suit.

The majority of riders are in the pits after a first run. Alex Marquez leads ahead of Bezzecchi, Raul Fernandez, Acosta, and Martin. Behind them are Diggia, Bastianini, Miller, Marc Marquez, and Binder. The gaps are tight. Only half a second separates the top 10.

Silverstone is a long track, but even here, riders can get in each other’s way. This happened between Di Giannantonio, who impeded Bezzecchi on one of his faster laps. Race control will take a close look at this.

The session starts significantly faster than in the morning, when only three riders broke into the 1:58 times. Now half the field is already in the 1:58s, and the front is not far from the first 1:57 time. Alex Marquez is ahead after four laps with 1:58.021 minutes.

One hour of practice is now on the schedule for MotoGP. This time, the field is mostly going out with the hard front tire. On the rear, we see a mix of soft and medium. The weather remains sunny. The air temperature is 23 degrees, the asphalt 46 degrees. In addition to working on race pace, the premier class is also aiming for Q2 entry.

In Moto2, Daniel Holgado concludes Friday’s practice as the leader. With a new track record of 2:01.815 minutes, he narrowly beats Senna Agius, who is a tenth of a second behind. Manuel Gonzalez finishes third, followed by Alex Escrig and Izan Guevara. The second half of the top 10 is occupied by Barry Baltus, Daniel Munoz, Mario Aji, Celestino Vietti, and Ivan Ortola. He and Alonso Lopez in eleventh place caused crashes but still advance directly to Q2, as do Sergio Garcia, Filip Salac, and Colin Veijer in twelfth to fourteenth places. Tony Arbolino narrowly misses out in 15th.
