Marc Marquez completes the practice with a single set of tires, but still remains ahead until the end. Raul Fernandez improves to second place with a fresh rear tire and is only 35 thousandths behind. Bezzecchi takes third, followed by Alex Marquez and Acosta.

Miller leads the second half of the top 10 ahead of Morbidelli, Di Giannantonio, Aldeguer, and Quartararo. Zarco finishes his first comeback session in eleventh.

Shortly before the end, Acosta crashes his KTM. Entering Turn 12, he has a long slide over the front wheel and skids across the asphalt run-off area and finally into the gravel trap. Nothing happened to him.

Marc Marquez has improved his own best time to 1:47.532 minutes, distancing his brother by two and a half tenths. Ten minutes are still to go.

A few riders have switched to a fresh front tire in the second run. The majority, however, continue with their first set. Marc and Alex Marquez remain the only ones with 1:47 times so far. Bezzecchi has improved to third place and is getting closer to that mark.

In the first run, the Marquez brothers set the pace. Marc leads with 1:47.763 minutes ahead of Alex, who is only 33 thousandths behind. Acosta is just under half a second behind in third place. Bezzecchi and Aldeguer complete the current top 5. Morbidelli, Zarco, Martin, Miller, and Rins follow in the subsequent positions.

As the first lap times come in, the first rider is already down. It’s Di Giannantonio, who slid out over the front wheel in Turn 3. Nothing happened to him, but his bike did a few rolls in the gravel trap.

In Aragon, it is dry and sunny. The air temperature is 21 degrees, the asphalt 33 degrees. For the first run, most riders are heading out with the soft front tire and the medium variant on the rear wheel. 45 minutes are on the clock.

In addition to Johann Zarco, Fermin Aldeguer also returns in Aragon after a break of about two months. He suffered a fracture of the T7 vertebra in a training crash at Assen. The 21-year-old Spaniard says he is not yet at 100 percent but already feels good on the bike.

“It’s more about strength and doing more laps than about pain,” explains Aldeguer. He has only been training in the gym and on the bike for three weeks, and last week he sat on a motorcycle for the first time again.

A significantly greater load now awaits him on the MotoGP machine. Therefore, Aldeguer wants to take the weekend calmly, dose the lap load, and gradually improve until Sunday.

Two riders are missing due to injury at the MotoGP weekend in Aragon: Ai Ogura has to sit out due to a fracture of his left thumb. The Trackhouse rider, currently third in the championship and winner at Assen, will be replaced by Aprilia test rider Lorenzo Savadori. Ogura underwent successful surgery in Barcelona on Thursday, and the timing of his return is still open.

Maverick Vinales is also still absent. The Tech3-KTM rider continues to work on his recovery from a shoulder injury and will again be replaced by Pol Espargaro. Vinales hopes to return at the following race in Misano.

In Moto2, Ivan Ortola secures the top spot with a late attack, setting the best time with 1:50.265 minutes. Alonso Lopez is second, 0.213 seconds behind, and Izan Guevara takes third. IntactGP riders Senna Agius and Manuel Gonzalez complete the top 5, but are already more than half a second behind.

Angel Piqueras, Daniel Holgado, Barry Baltus, David Alonso, and Tony Arbolino form the second half of the top 10. There are no incidents in this session.

The first practice session of the day in Moto3 ends with a best time of 1:58.708 minutes, set by David Almansa. He overtakes Brian Uriarte at the last moment, who had led the session for a long time but could no longer intervene after a crash in Turn 3.

Cormac Buchanan finishes third, with only 0.142 seconds separating the top 3.
Alvaro Carpe and Guido Pini complete the top 5. Behind them are Jesus Rios, Adrian Fernandez, Casey O’Gorman, Ruysei Yamanaka, and Joel Esteban. Championship leader Maximo Quiles, who is back after his collarbone fracture at Silverstone, takes 14th place.

This week, the MotoGP grid for 2027 has continued to take shape. Four rider changes were announced in the past few days.

Among the current MotoGP riders, Enea Bastianini, Luca Marini, and Fermin Aldeguer are all changing teams. Bastianini leaves Tech3-KTM and joins Trackhouse-Aprilia for two years. Marini joins Tech3-KTM after three years with Honda and will stay until the end of 2028. Aldeguer, however, remains with Ducati but moves from Gresini to VR46, also for two years.

Yesterday, Yamaha and Pramac then confirmed the promotion of Moto2 rider Izan Guevara. He will be Toprak Razgatlioglu’s new teammate in 2027, while Jack Miller will have to leave MotoGP. All contracts at a glance can be found here.

MotoGP starts its decisive season phase in Aragon. The focus is on the close battle between Aprilia and Ducati. Marc Marquez wants to strike back on his successful track after seventh place at Silverstone. He has been unbeaten in Aragon since 2024. Johann Zarco is set for his comeback for LCR-Honda after more than 100 days out with injury. Maverick Vinales, however, is still missing and will again be replaced by Pol Espargaro at Tech3. At KTM, there is hope for more performance after problems with engine reliability. The manufacturer was allowed to open the sealed engines and make corresponding changes. Whether the RC16 will run at full performance again in Aragon remains to be seen.

With the Aragon Grand Prix this weekend, the MotoGP season enters its hot phase. Ten Grands Prix will take place in the next 14 weekends – so it’s one after another. There’s not much room for error.

In Aragon, Marc Marquez is considered the big favorite. He could make up some points here after the slump at Silverstone. The foundation for this will be laid today in the practice sessions. At the end of this Friday, as always, it will be decided who goes directly into Q2. We will accompany every session in our live ticker.
