(MST/Speedmaniacs.de) – The RENNSPORT team has announced that the racing simulation will receive an update in September. For the Kings of the Ring update, various focus areas were identified based on player feedback, with PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players, who actively provided feedback, outnumbering PC players.

The upcoming update aims to fundamentally revise the behavior of AI opponents. The goal is to eliminate the most severe cases of unpredictable behavior, such as arbitrary braking in the middle of the straight, unexplained stops, and collisions from blind spots.
There is also a need for improvement in wheel support and better force feedback for certain steering wheels. The upcoming improvements should not only be directly noticeable for owners of Logitech wheels but also lead to a stronger, more consistent, and more detailed FFB response across all platforms.
There is also room for improvement in the visual presentation, especially in the cockpit view. Players have particularly criticized the strong light-dark contrast in poor lighting conditions, the low resolution of the rearview mirrors, and aliasing on the edges. Additionally, requests were made for a more intuitive user interface, more comprehensive telemetry data for external hardware, and native VR support for a true spatial immersion in the virtual world.
Clear priorities in development
According to official statements, corresponding improvements have been set in motion but, according to the developers, can only be implemented with a later update because the initial focus is on building the infrastructure required to realize these requests.
There is also some catching up to do in audio quality here and there. The current focus is on ensuring that the upcoming new vehicles come directly with high-fidelity audio and addressing audio dropouts reported especially on Xbox consoles. Therefore, there will be no significant general improvements in the audio area in the next update.

The desire for more than the currently possible 12 drivers in a multiplayer lobby has also been examined, and it was found that the feedback is somewhat distorted and, apart from a temporarily particularly large number of players, the lobbies are not sufficiently filled. As a result, there are no plans for the rest of the year to increase the number of participants or extend time limits in custom competitions, as the number of participants in online races is currently limited. At the same time, there is openness to conducting community tests with larger participant fields in the future.
Several updates and new game content planned for 2026
Although only 4 months remain in 2026, RENNSPORT is set to receive several updates during this time, which will implement improvements in AI opponent behavior, force feedback and wheel support (especially on consoles), stability improvements (fixing severe crashes on consoles caused by leading bugs, memory leaks, and stuttering), and enhancements to the player experience (redesigning the onboarding process, optimizing reward systems, and introducing meaningful progression mechanisms for long-term enjoyment).
Various tracks, additional track variants, and more vehicles are also planned as game content. The Kings of the Ring DLC, currently being tested by the QA department, is scheduled for release in September and will include the Nürburgring Nordschleife and three new cars, while the RENNSPORT update will feature extensive bug fixes, overall better FFB wheel support, and the most frequently requested AI improvement by the community.

The topic of modding support is deliberately postponed compared to the original plan. First, the studio says, the basic gameplay experience must be improved before development time can be spent on implementing mods.
