Due to the accident, the track was blocked in the curve at the entrance to the steep section, causing a backlog of vehicles. In addition, an emergency doctor and several ambulances were sent to the accident site, making the interruption of the race unavoidable.
Information on the vehicles involved and the condition of presumed injured persons was not initially available.
Later, race control officially announced: “A total of seven vehicles were involved in the collision of several vehicles in the Klostertal area. Affected are start numbers #27 (Wahl/Rönnefarth/Dumarey/Böckmann, Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3), #111 (Becker/Spölgen, BMW 325i e90), #121 (Miettinen/Berghult, BMW 325i e90), #410 (Croci/Larbi/Ackermann/Le Bihan, Porsche Cayman GTS), #448 (Klinkmüller/Beckwermert, Porsche Cayman CM12), #503 (Tamm/Egger/Hökfelt, Toyota Supra) and #992 (Griesemann/Griesemann/Adorf/Holzer, Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Manthey 992.1).

About an hour after the accident, the livestream broadcast was stopped. Shortly after 7:00 PM, the track was apparently passable again. The vehicles from the backlog started moving and slowly drove back towards the pits.
At the time of the interruption, three race laps had been completed. The polesetters in the Gamota-BMW #23 (Zsigo/Kranz/Jahn) were in the lead, ahead of the Abt-Lamborghini #84 (Engstler/Bortolotti/Niederhauser) and the Schnitzelalm-Mercedes #11 (Heyer/Härtling/Fitje).
