Tomorrow is test day
With that, we say goodbye after a turbulent race Sunday from our live ticker. But it won’t get quiet in Barcelona just yet. Because tomorrow an official in-season test is on the program – however without the participation of the Marquez brothers and also without Marquez, all of whom will be absent due to injuries. And other riders are also not completely clear after today’s incidents.
Nevertheless, we will of course keep you up to date with all the exciting information from the test and the reactions to the race weekend in our motorcycle section.

Update on Alex Marquez
Gresini Racing has released a medical update on Alex Marquez. The Spaniard was diagnosed with a marginal fracture of the C7 vertebra and a fracture of the right collarbone. The collarbone fracture is to be stabilized with a plate.
According to the team, Marquez will undergo surgery today at the Hospital General de Catalunya. A further medical evaluation of the injuries is planned for the coming week.
There is no official update yet on Johann Zarco. It was last reported that he is being examined in the hospital for a possible injury to his left leg. This had become awkwardly trapped under Bagnaia’s motorcycle during his crash.
No penalty for Bagnaia
All clear for Francesco Bagnaia: He was also investigated for a possible tire pressure violation but comes away without a penalty.
As the technical director of MotoGP explains, during the race a possible undercut of the tire pressure on the front wheel was initially reported. However, the recheck showed that the pressure was compliant at the start of the race and the later loss was due to a leaking rim. Together with the official tire supplier, the race management concluded that there was no rule violation.
Tire pressure penalties for several riders
As many as five riders have been retrospectively given a 16-second time penalty by the FIM stewards because they fell below the prescribed minimum tire pressure in today’s Grand Prix race. The penalties will be added to the race results.
Affected are Joan Mir, Raul Fernandez, Toprak Razgatlioglu, Jack Miller, and Alex Rins. The penalty is particularly severe for Mir, who loses his podium place. Fermin Aldeguer moves up to second place, Francesco Bagnaia to third.

Brivio comments on collisions
Both Trackhouse riders were involved in incidents today: Raul Fernandez and Jorge Martin collided early, Ai Ogura and Pedro Acosta clashed shortly before the end. While the latter was penalized, Fernandez escaped without penalty.
Trackhouse team manager Davide Brivio explains on DAZN: “As far as Raul is concerned, this is certainly a good opportunity for the Aprilia riders to talk to each other and be a bit more cautious. As it happened, a small gap opened at the corner entry. Raul took advantage of it, and Jorge took the line as if Raul wasn’t there at all. I can’t assign clear blame to Raul. It was only a few laps, and Raul saw a chance. Could it have been avoided? Maybe.”
“I feel very sorry for Pedro. I apologize to him. These things can happen, but Ai is a very fair, very respectful rider. It was the last corner. He judged that he had space to go in. We accept the decision and the penalty, but we can’t change anything about it anymore.”
Di Giannantonio: “Did a fantastic job”
Fabio Di Giannantonio (VR46-Ducati/1st): “I am so happy. First of all, I was very worried about all the crashed riders. Today was not an easy day for anyone. I really hope that Alex [Marquez] is okay. We were very lucky. We know that our sport is great. We try to put on a great show for the fans, but we are also human and expose ourselves to dangers. I really hope everyone is okay.”
“I am very happy for myself and for the team. They did a fantastic job. We have been working towards this moment for a long time. We can be proud of that and happy.”
Mir: “There should be more points for that”
Joan Mir (Honda/2nd): “That feels incredible. We dreamed of it and worked very hard throughout the entire first half of the season. There were many crashes, but today we put everything together. I really enjoyed the race despite two red flags and three starts. It wasn’t easy. There should actually be more points for that. Hopefully Johann [Zarco] and Alex [Marquez] are okay, and I hope to see them again in Mugello.”

Aldeguer: “It was not an easy weekend”
Fermin Aldeguer (Gresini-Ducati/3rd): “The start of the season was super difficult for me and for all the people around me. But now we are back on the podium. It was not an easy weekend because I started only from 15th place due to the yellow flags and my crash. All that made it difficult, but we are here. This race is for all my people and also for my teammate [Alex Marquez]. I hope he is okay. I am super happy.”

MotoGP: The provisional order
We bring ourselves up to date regarding the order: Diggia wins ahead of Mir and Aldeguer. Bagnaia moves up to fourth place due to Ogura’s penalty, followed by Bezzecchi, Quartararo, Marini, and Binder. Ogura is ninth. Moreira completes the top 10.
The remaining points places go to Rins, Morbidelli, Vinales, Miller, and Razgatlioglu. Raul and Augusto Fernandez as well as Martin come away empty-handed.
MotoGP: Ogura penalized
Ogura receives a penalty for contact with Acosta. He gets three seconds added to his race result, which drops him back to ninth place. And there could be more penalties, as six riders are being investigated for their tire pressure: Razgatlioglu, Raul Fernandez, Mir, Rins, Miller, and Bagnaia.
MotoGP: Diggia wins, Acosta crashes
Di Giannantonio wins this shortened Grand Prix race at the end clearly with a 1.250 second lead. For Acosta, it is a lap to forget. Mir and Aldeguer pass him. In the final corner, he is then also attacked by Ogura and crashes as a result of contact. Bagnaia inherits fifth place. The race management announces an investigation.
MotoGP: Lead change
In turn 12, Diggia takes the lead and can immediately pull away. Acosta is now fighting on the last two laps to keep Mir, Aldeguer, and Ogura behind him. Two of the four will come away empty-handed regarding the podium.
MotoGP: Final phase
Three laps to go and the three-way fight could soon become a five-way fight. Because Aldeguer and Ogura are closing in on the leading trio. Who will take the podium places?
