Different strategies possible?

After the impressions from Friday, Pirelli believes that there could be different strategies in the race tomorrow. Chief engineer Simone Berra explains: “The different approaches of the teams […] could be an early indication that they are considering different numbers of pit stops.”

Because several teams, including McLaren, Mercedes, and Ferrari, have saved an additional set of hard tires for the race. “Tire wear will play a crucial role, even though it currently seems to be under control thanks to the low temperatures,” says Berra.

The safety car probability, “which is traditionally high on this race track,” could also impact the strategy. “In any case, we expect that all three compounds can be used in race strategies on Sunday,” emphasizes Berra.

Weather

We take a look at the weather at the start of the day and can report that it has rained again in Zandvoort. Currently, it is no longer raining, so the track would of course be dry again by the sprint at noon.

Further rain is not excluded. We will keep an eye on it as always.
