– Mick Schumacher (RLL-Honda; DNF) ended a promising race weekend in Markham, Canada with an accident. The son of Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher crashed without external influence on the 14th of 90 laps on the street circuit.

This ended a race that had started strongly. In the opening phase, he worked his way past his teammate Graham Rahal (RLL-Honda) from tenth on the grid and was thus in ninth place. After 13 laps, Rinus “VeeKay” van Kalmthout (Juncos-Chevrolet) surprisingly went to the pits, pushing Schumacher up to P8. VeeKay probably would not have been able to hold the position as he got caught in traffic.
Then Schumacher suddenly went straight on at turn 4 in the 15th lap. The reason for this is still unclear. The first suspicion falls on a driving error with too early steering input, but this is not yet confirmed.
