“Grello” has a birthday!
One of the big crowd favorites is celebrating an anniversary this year: For the tenth time, Manthey is starting with the “Grello” Porsche at the 24h race. But the history of yellow-green Porsches goes much further back with the team from Meuspath – and now extends far beyond the Nordschleife. Our photo series takes a look at the “Grello” history.

Verstappen mania even in the media center
The driver briefing is currently taking place in the media center, and every driver must attend – even a four-time Formula 1 world champion like Max Verstappen. The appearance of the Dutchman here already provides a first hint of the hype that will run through the race weekend. Verstappen is immediately surrounded by a crowd of people wanting to take a photo of the Formula 1 star. Only with some effort does race director Walter Hornung manage to establish the necessary calm for the driver briefing.
Retro vibes at the 24h race
The three HWA EVO.R are no candidates for the overall victory. However, the cars, which are a tribute to the legendary Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evo II, are certainly high in the fans’ favor. Not least thanks to resonant driver names like Luca Ludwig, Sebastian Asch, or Jamie Green. Also, the three-time 24h overall winner Markus Winkelhock pilots one of the HWAs and finds the car “really cool.” What else he says, you can read here.

A touch of winter in the Eifel
The infamous Eifel weather lives up to its name even at the 54th edition – and with early temperatures of 4 degrees Celsius today, it feels more like winter than spring. It will remain significantly too cold for the season in the Eifel in the coming days. However, and this will especially please the campers around the Nordschleife, no heavy rain is forecast. Although there is a risk of showers on all days, these will only occur locally and will not bring large amounts of rain.
