Maverick Vinales is also missing in Aragon: Pol Espargaro steps in again

– Maverick Vinales will also not start at the upcoming weekend at MotorLand Aragon (Spain). As already in Silverstone, the Tech3-KTM team has nominated Pol Espargaro as a replacement.

Vinales continues to focus on the recovery of his left shoulder. Tech3 stated in a release that they are hopeful that Vinales can be back for the following race in Misano (San Marino).

“Together with Maverick and KTM, we have decided that Pol will continue to race for us in Aragon,” says team manager Nicolas Goyon, “so that Maverick can fully concentrate on his recovery.”

“For us, the most important thing is that Maverick takes the time he needs for a full recovery. We support him throughout this entire process and continue to hope to welcome him back in Misano.”

“Pol did solid work for the team in Silverstone, and thanks to his experience, he is well prepared to step in again this weekend.” Espargaro scored world championship points in Silverstone as 13th.

In Silverstone, Tech3 CEO Günther Steiner emphasized that Vinales is not dismissed. As soon as he is fit again, he will get back on the bike and finish the season.

When asked if the intention remains to put the Spaniard back on the bike, Steiner replied: “When the health is back, yes. But we have to see.”

Next year, however, Vinales will no longer be part of the Tech3 team. Tech3 has not yet officially confirmed any rider for the 2027 MotoGP season. Luca Marini and Senna Agius are considered the most promising candidates.

Enea Bastianini will race for Trackhouse-Aprilia in the 2027 season. The US team has now confirmed the switch.
