Monster Energy: New main sponsor for Aprilia's MotoGP team

– Aprilia has stamped its mark on the 2026 MotoGP season so far. Four of the first six Grand Prix wins went to the brand from Noale, Italy. Marco Bezzecchi and Jorge Martin lead the riders’ championship in the first two positions.

However, Aprilia is one of the few MotoGP teams without a main sponsor. This will change at the Italian Grand Prix, which takes place at the end of May in Mugello.

According to information from Motorsport.com Spain, a sister platform of Motorsport-Total.com, the energy drink manufacturer Monster Energy will be presented as the new main sponsor in Mugello.

Aprilia and Monster have reached an agreement until the end of the season. Both parties are very interested in continuing the collaboration beyond 2026.

For Aprilia, this step means an important financial boost, but above all a guarantee of stability for the short- and medium-term future. In addition, Bezzecchi has a personal sponsorship contract with Monster.

As reported, Francesco Bagnaia will also join Aprilia next season as Bezzecchi’s teammate. The current Ducati rider also has a personal contract with Monster.

Therefore, the agreement between the beverage company and Aprilia extends beyond 2026, giving the impression that the current step was brought forward in time.

Normally, it is unusual for a team to find a main sponsor in the middle of the season, as contracts are usually concluded from one year to the next.

Monster’s commitment to Aprilia is also explained by the fact that the beverage manufacturer might reduce its presence with Yamaha at the end of the year when the contract between them expires.

This would allow Monster to focus its efforts on Aprilia and Ducati, where the company is a co-sponsor. Marc Marquez has paused his personal contract with Red Bull and has not switched to Monster.

Jorge Martin is most affected

The news puts Jorge Martin in a very delicate position, as the Spaniard, who has a contract with Aprilia until the end of the season, is a Red Bull rider and thus under contract with Monster’s direct competitor.

Jorge Martin

As Motorsport.com Spain learned, Martin, who has a very close relationship with the Austrian beverage company, is considering all options. This also includes leaving Red Bull and switching to Monster.

However, this does not currently seem to be the most likely solution. Another option would be to “pause” his contract with Red Bull, as Marquez has done. This would mean significant financial losses for Martin.
