With today’s triple victory in Silverstone, Aprilia has for the first time in its MotoGP history occupied the entire podium in a sprint. For Aprilia, it is the fifth sprint win of the season, for Martin the third of the season after Austin and Le Mans and the 19th of his career.

This puts him level with Marc Marquez in sprint wins. Martin also matches the record of Ducati’s rider with now 35 sprint podiums. As a result, for the first time, three Aprilia riders are in the top three positions of the overall standings.

After his crash in the Moto3 qualifying, the feared injury of world championship leader Maximo Quiles has been confirmed: The Aspar rider has broken his right collarbone and will miss the rest of this race weekend.

Home victory for Bradley Smith! In his wildcard appearance on home soil, the Brit secures first place in the first race of the Bagger World Cup. Smith, who knows the bikes from the US series King of Baggers well, takes the lead early and does not give it up until the end of the seven race laps.

Pole sitter Archie McDonald, temporarily battling with Oscar Gutierrez and Eric Granado, finishes second. Granado completes the podium in third. Andrea Iannone and Jordi Torres finish fourth and fifth. Gutierrez continues after a crash and still finishes tenth.

Jorge Martin (Aprilia/1.): “We worked a lot during the summer break, and now all that work has finally paid off. I am really, really happy. What can I say today? Incredible work. Congratulations to the entire Aprilia team. And also congratulations to Marco, because after the injuries he recently suffered, it’s crazy that he is already back on the podium.”

“It was a difficult race today. I tried to be as fast as possible while managing everything. In the end, I had no rear tire left. I thought Ai would catch me, but in the end, I was able to control the gap. Another sprint win is always great, and even more so after the summer break.”

Ai Ogura (Trackhouse-Aprilia/2.): “The start was good, but it was still a difficult race. How much the rear tire degraded was incredible. I really wasn’t sure if I could even finish the race. But we still managed to get second place. There is still a lot of work ahead for tomorrow, so we keep working.”

Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia/3.): “It was a difficult time, as you can probably imagine. That’s why it was very important to come back and have fun on the bike again. We did a very good job.”

“It’s hard for me to say exactly how I feel now. But I just want to say a huge thank you to the entire team and to all the people who stood by me and worked hard with me. I am very happy.”

Moreira misses the points in tenth place by only 0.027 seconds. Binder is eleventh, followed by Marini and Miller. The latter is the best Yamaha rider just ahead of Quartararo in 14th. Bagnaia hardly plays a role in this sprint. Starting from 16th, he finally finishes 17th behind Bastianini and Rins.

Martin celebrates a safe start-to-finish victory and extends his championship lead further. Ogura is a strong second. Bezzecchi completes the Aprilia trio in third.

Alex Marquez is the best Ducati rider in fourth ahead of Di Giannantonio. Acosta finishes sixth, followed by Mir and Morbidelli, who also overtakes Marc Marquez at the end. The latter still salvages a point in ninth.

Marc Marquez seems to have massive grip problems and fights against Acosta with blunt weapons. In the penultimate lap, he is also overtaken by the KTM rider and is now only seventh. And Mir is already knocking on the door as the next competitor.

And there goes Bezzecchi, taking third place from Diggia. Now we have three Aprilias in front. The Ducatis cannot keep up. Alex Marquez looks strongest, who could still catch Diggia in the final phase.

Marc Marquez continues to fall back. Now his brother Alex passes him as well. At the front, Martin has a seven-tenths lead with four laps to go. Ogura holds second place. Di Giannantonio is behind and has to look back because Bezzecchi is closing in fast.

On lap five, Bezzecchi passes Marc Marquez and takes fourth place. He can also immediately pull away a bit. It is now one and a half seconds to third place.

There is no penalty for the Lecuona/Morbidelli incident. Meanwhile, in turn 4 of the fourth lap, the next rider slides off: It is Raul Fernandez, who can continue but is now last. Marc Marquez also seems to have problems. He can no longer keep up with the pace ahead of him.

The crash of Lecuona seems to have been preceded by contact with Morbidelli. The race direction has launched an investigation.

After two laps, Martin already has a lead of just under half a second at the front. Ogura, Diggia, and Marc Marquez fight to keep up. Bezzecchi has to let a bit go in fifth place.
