– The Grand Prix Commission made some adjustments to the regulations of the Motorcycle World Championship in meetings in March and April. They mainly concern the premier class MotoGP.

A significant change concerns wildcards. They will be completely abolished from the MotoGP season 2027 onwards. This applies to all manufacturers, regardless of their concession rank.
It was also clarified that in the 2026 season no wildcard entries will be made with the new prototypes, which from 2027 will only have 850 cubic centimeters displacement. This also applies to all manufacturers.
This means the new motorcycles will be seen in race use for the first time at the season opener in 2027. Wildcards will remain allowed for the Moto2 and Moto3 classes in the future as well.
Another clarification in the MotoGP regulations concerns the rule for monitoring the minimum pressure in the front tire. Although the tire supplier changes from Michelin to Pirelli, this regulation remains in place.

The starting procedure was changed with immediate effect. After an official start interruption on the grid, the countdown to the warm-up lap will now continue from the 5-minute board, instead of the previous 3-minute board.
This gives the mechanics more time and more planning certainty about when they must finish their work on the motorcycle before the warm-up lap. This new 5-minute rule already applied at the Spanish Grand Prix.
In addition, clarifications were made in the regulations regarding additional test days for MotoGP riders after injuries as well as concerning the homologation regulations for the MotoGP electronics of the IMU.

A detail change concerns the Moto2 and Moto3 classes: Heart rate monitors are now officially approved as optional sensors in the two smaller classes as well.
